i'm kinda sad he doesn't go cause it's great to see him compete. but it's good he is rational enough not to push himself too hard. i hope he'll get some needed and well-deserved rest

can anyone translate? xxx it doesn't really say much, just that Stephane will not participate at the Worlds but this decision has nothing to do with the disappointment after staying off the podium by such a small margin, it was already clear to him before. the quote from Stephane says that his goal was the Olympics and that's what he worked. and he adds that whether he will continue his career or not is still open, he doesn't know yet, this depends on whether he'll find new goals for himself or not because without goals it would make no sense to continue

He worked so hard for being able to go the Games and made the nearly impossible regarding his health situation so that I think it's very wise to give his body now time to recover a little bit from all the very hard training of the last few weeks. Thanks, Stéphane for everything you provided us in this competition season! It was SO GREAT to have you back and to life with you thru this season! And who knows perhaps we might see him back next season, if his health situation will allow it. European Championships will be held in Switzerland - Bern... So let's see and of course hope the best!

for me it was clear that in actual situation he will retire after Vancuwer. If he would rich what he planed (gold) I am quite sure he would go to Torino Right now I think it's good to rest and make it easy but leaving cariere? oh.... I don't thin so. He love to skate too much to do it.

I was in the gloomiest mood of my life when I learned in autumn 2008 that he wouldn't compete anymore, and I was beyond happy to learn that he was going to Vancouver, but now I am really glad that this all is over and would like him to quit competitions now once and for all and perform in shows - that's where he can enjoy skating without pressure, pain and annoying journalists. I strongly hope he will leave it all behind him without any regrets and continue to be just our Artist.

Well, I expected this but I hope he'll be there in Europeans next year only because it's in Switzerland where he'll have a massive support, and he might get the European gold, the other missing piece of his collection there. But, he surely has time to make a decision about it.

Well, I expected this but I hope he'll be there in Europeans next year only because it's in Switzerland as much as I'd love to see him compete again I wish that he'll not only come back cause it's held in switzerland. he should only do this if he really really wants to and if he's in good shape. he shouln't see it as a "must-do" . btw: thanks a lot girls for the last couple of months. this board was so alive again (in good and bad sense) . we all can be simply thankful to have had the opportunity to watch him durin' this games and the ec .

But, he surely has time to make a decision about it. yeah, if his health holds up i think the chances of him participating in Bern are actually quite good, just like you said - 1) it takes place in Switzerland 2) there's a goal to fight for that he hasn't achieved during his wonderful career yet - an European gold. but we may be rushing ahead too much first he needs to give his body some rest

I can’t say I’m very surprised, but I do actually prefer to know he will rest and take care of his body, even if it means that I won’t have the pleasure of seeing him compete. Since last summer, I’ve considered each performance of his in competition a gift, but I wouldn’t really mind if he'll choose to retire again. As long as he's happy and healthy, I could watch him skate forever in shows and be damn glad about it. Stephanie2006, I hope we will have the chance to meet up again in Palavela anyway
