Kyra has a comp today!

Its the selection comp in Den Bosch, her first this season. Martine Zuiderwijk and Karen Venhuizen will be competing too. They are all skating their SP's.

well...

1) she didn't do very well
2) she wuzrobbed

she did very good in the warm up, landing some 3-2 combo I thought it was 3S-2T but afterwards they said it was a Fl not a S ? erm... well could be it was jumped a bit out of my sight anyway.

but then in the competition...she fell on the 2A, the 3F and she only managed a 2-2 combo.

but anyhoo, afterwards we had a look at the protocols. Turns out they counted her 2A as a 1A with a -1 GOE and her 3F as 2F also with -1GOE
Now I don't know, but I thought CoP works differently? I thought her 2A and 3F should have been counted as so and with a -3 GOE because of the falls? :-/

She was also pissed about some spins being called out level 1 and nothing more.

Then her PCS scores could have been much higher IMO... :-/

she was pretty fast compared to the rest, with MUCH better edging, but she still got about the same PCS scores as the rest.

Dee, I've seen this happen before, less successful jumps have been downgraded and gotten a minus on top of it. When CoP was first introduced I was also under the impression a skater wouldn't be punished for trying something, but that has turned out to be the case. Weird system...

Poor Kyra, but I hope the rest of the season will be great for you! :-*

Sorry it took me a while girls. Have so much to arrange these days...

As Dee told you, Kyra did not have a great skate, but she did show a very nice and clean 3 flip in the warm up. She had been sick before the competition and had antibiotics, so she was still a bit shaky on her legs. So while she didn't skate as well as she hoped, and she was indeed frustrated about the judging protocols, she was not sad or anything. It appears to me she knows very well how to deal with these things, mentally.

I had a signed photo by Stephane for her, arranged by Celine. She was very enthusiastic, and showed it to a few of her friends. Before we knew it, she was surrounded by 20 girls, begging her for the pic, even bowing on the ice for her.

It was a hilarious sight!
So Celine, thanks for making this girl so happy! :-*

I know I liked her SP, but I was extremely busy with learning how to use my new little camera, so I can't give you a real impression of it yet. She was skating very fast, always skating out of my view..

and as always very expressive. Take a look at the pictures, I think that shows.

This was actually the first time I had a look at Kyra's site :-[

She seems to be a very nice and energetic girl, I really hope to see her skate someday!
