 South Atlantic Regionals
« Thread Started on Oct 20, 2007, 2:32am »

Hey all, I'm writing you guys from my hotel room at my first qualifying comp for Nationals, thought I'd give you a little update.

I skated my short program tonight and it went well. I took out the quad toe for this because I pulled my hamstring a couple weeks ago and it's just starting to get better. Fortunately today was the first day I was able to do 3 axel without a lot of pain so I just did 3 lutz/3 toe for my combo and was able to do everything else. I did make the mistake of popping my triple flip into a double.

Either way, everyone is going out, so I'm not going to do anything to further injure my leg because it's more important I do well at Sectionals and Nationals. :)

Outside of skating I haven't been doing a lot. I recently took up a challenge with a friend to turn no money into 10 grand online playing poker. Basically I'm going to try to win money in Freeroll tournaments where they are basically just giving away money to the top finishers. Once I win something in one of those I'll have money to grind out cash games. I figure it's a cheap (free!) way to challenge myself and if I succeed, I'll be able to pay some more of my bills :) Also, I've been practicing a bit with my band, we've been writing new songs and hopefully will be able to afford some studio time soon to record a demo CD.

Anyways, I should go, but I'll let you know how my long goes.

Thanks for the update! The results still aren't up on Ice Network and was curious how everyone was doing. Glad things went ok. :)

Sounds like a fun challenge! Good luck!

Thanks. I knew they had to be somewhere; just didn't know where to look!

Great job at South Atlantics!
I thought your freeskate program was amazing. I was the girl who opened the door for you when you got on the ice. haha.
I didn't get to see the results for your freeskate since I had to go monitor on the other rink and they're not up on ice network.
It was great seeing you skate again and I really hope to see more of you in the future.

Ended up in 2nd. The opening of my program was great but I stepped out of my flip about 1/2 way through and torqued my leg funny on it so after that things got a little sloppy because I let my mind wander a little bit and start focusing on getting through the program with the least pain rather than doing my elements.

My coach and I weren't unhappy with the program, but we know I can do better and that I need to focus the next few weeks on my conditioning and letting my leg recover so that I don't have any reason to let my focus go during my program.

Also, I told you guys about that challenge I took up... I actually took 22nd out of 2400 people in a Razz tournament (it's a form of poker where the worst hand wins basically) and won a $2 to start out my little challenge

Well, I suppose it's best you're not peaking this early in the season. ;) Hope your leg is all better and you're ready to go for Sectionals!

Thanks for keeping us updated :) I hope you can soon skate pain-free and to your full potential ;) I think you did pretty well at Regionals.

LOL at winning two dollars :P Good luck, haha.

Ooh, does your band have any website or promotion?

Right now we only have our Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/oursatisfaction

Unfortunately, no real recordings, just a couple quick demos we did with one microphone, so not too great quality :P We did just add some new pictures though in the album "New OS Photos" that came out pretty well. We have an "official" site coming soon that's being done by one of our girlfriends that will have more pictures and eventually some higher quality, professionally done recordings. The ones on our Myspace were made in the basement we practice in with no acoustics or mixing.

Also, there's a chance we may have an article in an upcoming issue of Sports Illustrated for Kids. We were contacted by one of the writers saying they were interested in us and they got some basic info to run by the editors.
