OMG Sinead has posted! Don't be too hard on yourselves. Everyone has a bad day at some point. It probably felt worse than it looked - that's what you used to say to me! I'd like to see you kick the truck driver's ss at Worlds though.

Hey Sinead! I enjoyed all your programs and had a good laugh at the Swedish commentator on Eurosport who kept calling you sin-head, it was so laughable! I just hope people don't do that to you all the time... Break a leg at Worlds! (Figure of speech for anyone who's shocked, and it means good luck. And it's milder than the German version which says break your neck and leg!)

"Hals und Beinbrech"?? Is Sineads name really that hard to pronounce?

from Hungarian commentators I've heart three versions of pronunciation.

The Dutch commentator is also practically always trippin'over her name...

Must be. We heard several versions on Swedish TV as well, and all of them were bad. And I think the one commentator knew she was way off cause after a while she just talked about the brother-sister team, without mentioning any names.

I'm surprised that so many people have trouble pronouncing it! Have they not seen it before!? I always think of Sinead O'Connor and know how her's is pronounced so even if I didn't know how to pronounce it, I'd at least have that to go by!

It's been 15 years since Sinead O'Connor made it big with "Nothing compares 2 u", and even back then people had problems with her name as well (and some still do). Sinead is not a common name in Scandinavia, but still, one could wish for some effort from the skating commentators to get the names right on nationally broadcast competitions. One can always ask!
