OK people, I'm back home, dead tired. Some tidbits...
Ladies were boring (and quite a splastfest) except for the top 2. Sarah was head and shoulders above the others, she has 2 new gorgeous programs and her jumps were totally fine. I think she landed all triples - except for the axel obviously - and it was SUCH a pleasure to see her back on the ice. GO SARAH!!
Kimena Brog-Meier finished very logically second, I enjoyed her much more than I expected and she landed a great 3T-2T-2L combo in the LP. I guess both will go to Euros, but if one has to withdraw for whichever reason, she prolly won't be replaced (by Cindy Carquillat who finished third).
Oh, and in the junior comp, out of the 35 or so participants, a girl from Geneva won (unfortunately we missed her). It was her first try in the junior category, she was Swiss champion in the "cadets" last year and celebrated her 14th birthday today! So congrats to Noémie and let's hope she can keep up the great work with Mr Grütter!!
Another of Mr Grütter's "protégés" won the junior title in the men's event by the way, so congrats to Laurent too!!
We had 5 teams in ice dancing, 2 junior and 3 seniors. The Kellers won quite easily, dunno if they'll be sent to Euros (I guess so). The team I enjoyed most was Nora von Bergen and Boris Räber, they're 15 and 19 and "obviously" won the junior title, they're both totally ADORABLE and they're quite good (I think they train in Oberstdorf)! I'm putting much hope in this team for the future, and I'm not the only one!!
No pairs, as usual...
And last but not least, the men. None of the guys skated great. Here's what I wrote down for the LPs, but I'M NOT THE MOST RELIABLE AT RECOGNISING THE JUMPS.
Stéph: 2A, 3T, 3L 2footed (?), 4T fall, 3F, 3Lz-3T, 3S, 2L
A: 5.2 5.4 5.4 5.4 5.3 5.2 5.3
B: 5.5 5.7 5.6 5.6 5.6 5.4 5.5
Jamal: 3Lz not clean-2T, 2A, 3F (2footed?), 3L (2footed?), 3S, 3L, 3Lz, 3S, 2A (mmmh, where did the T go?...)
A: 4.8 5.1 5.2 4.9 5.2 5.2 5.1
B: 5.1 5.3 5.5 5.4 5.4 5.2 5.2
Patrick: even though he skated before Jamal, he knew he had to try everything to have a chance to finish 2nd, so...
1A (obviously went for 3A), 3A underrotated + fall, 3Lz, 1F, 3S-2T 2footed, 1L, 2T, 2T
A: 4.5 to 4.9 B: 4.9 to 5.3
Moris: I tried to write down what he did, but he's so quick on the ice (+I was so freaking out for Stéph) that I'm not sure AT ALL on many jumps and thus won't post what I wrote down.
A: 4.8 to 5.1 B: 4.9 to 5.2
We were a bit surprised to see Moris waiting with Stéph and Jamal for the medal ceremony, but in the end it was quite logical. I feel sorry for Patrick, this might have been his last competitive skate and I wish it had turned out differently for him (meaning that he had finished 3rd with a good skate). I'm thrilled for Jamal and hope he'll skate well at Euros (and Worlds I guess). His SP is gorgeous and suits him so well ("My sweet and tender beast") and his LP's quite interesting too. HOPP JAMAL!!
And good luck to Moris for Junior Worlds as he should now get the spot there!
As for Stéph, he was quite disappointed, especially at not landing the 4T during the competition, cause he landed some gorgeous 4T-3T at practices and during the warm-ups. It all comes down to one word: pressure. You could feel he was nervous (though he said he wasn't really *that* nervous), for instance I found that the SP didn't "flow" the way it did at exhibitions, and he didn't have that "sparkle" that he usually has when he skates. But then it was his first comp since Worlds in Dortmund, and he knew MANY people had come to Lausanne to "observe" him. I hope he'll handle the pressure better in the coming 3 weeks and that he'll get the 3A back before Euros.
