My mama signed me up for Idol 2005 (same as American Idol, but in Sweden), so the twelfth of May I'm going down to Malmö for the audition. What am I going to sing...?

Oh that's nice!!! Are you a good singer? What you have to sing...well...what do you like to sing? I mean, what kind of songs?

I've been singing in various choirs every now and then, but not much solo singing... The problem is that the music I listen to the most is in about every language imaginable EXCEPT English and/or Swedish! Though I like Moneybrother and Per Gessle...

Did you always want to sing a program like Idols? Kinda nice though, unfortunatly we don't have Swedish Television, otherwise I would watch it!!!! Well, maybe you could sing some songs of them then, or is it difficult?

No, the songs I've been thinking of are pretty easy, maybe too easy... I don't really expect to become a celebrity or anything, the only reason I'm doing this is because... well, it's a funny thing to do. There's a song by ABBA called "Fernando", maybe I should take that one...?

And I think it suits my voice too... Plus I already know most of the lyrics... And I've got the song on a cd back home, so I can practise!

That sounds like a great idea! I've always liked that song myself...lol. Do you know what you are? soprano? mezzo-soprano? alto? etc etc?

^ me too! I'm actually a mezzo-soprano/alto, but while my voice has the range, the upper and lower parts of my range aren't as strong as they could be. I miss being a soprano (when I was younger) - I loved singing operatic songs - Pie Jesu, etc.

*sings* Can you hear the drums Fernando?
Um... What comes next...? *googles up the lyrics* Aha...!
Can you hear the drums Fernando? I remember long ago another starry night like this In the firelight Fernando You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar I could hear the distant drums And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar
They were closer now Fernando Every hour every minute seemed to last eternally I was so afraid Fernando We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die And I'm not ashamed to say The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry
There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando
Now we're old and grey Fernando And since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand Can you hear the drums Fernando? Do you still recall the frightful night we crossed the Rio Grande? I can see it in your eyes How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land
There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando
There was something in the air that night The stars were bright, Fernando They were shining there for you and me For liberty, Fernando Though I never thought that we could lose There's no regret If I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando Yes, if I had to do the same again I would, my friend, Fernando...

I will when I get home. I pretty much know the song off by heart already, so I won't need much practising...
