I dont get why? I mean this is now and grand prix final is next week, he could make it to both events. Unless he thinks it is too much in too short time so he want to be better prepared for Corea? But than he would not be national champion agin, right?

Well it's a pretty useless competition for him. He already won the Czech National title 6 times, plus the Czech fed already decided that he and Michal are the ones to go to Europeans (and who goes to worlds is to be decided on the result at Euros)
It's quite demanding to do 2 competitions in a row like that, so why do it if it's not necessary?

I am not surprised, but it must be disappointing for those who came just to see Tomas. Sounds like they may have decided at the last minute.
The Obertstorf team has two skaters going to Korea next week, so naturally that's the priority. The Czech federation knows already who its top two male skaters are (neither of whom are competing)... not like the US where everyone has to compete for a spot on the world team.
p.s. I hope GPF is the reason, and not illness or something...

I hope your insider knows for certain that Tomas was just "playing hooky" [That's what we call it in the US when you lie about illness to stay home from school.]
