Dee was hurry, this one is with video: tn.nova.cz/sport/zimnisporty/ani-do-krve-rozedrene-nohy-nezastavi-vernera-v-treninku.htmlTomas says: 1 week problems with the new skates, legs scratched by the blood around, heal it after the season, but his inflamation of tendon is in the new boots better, it is not more visible, just a little hurt. Yet already last week, full training. Flying to Canada to "polish" FS with Lori, more to impress the judge. Choreography, music and costumes the same as in Helsinki. Cooperate with the psychologist, to better handle the external pressure during the competition. His programs are good for medal, the heaviest elements and jumps.

during figure skating humbleness doesn't pay off
with Tomas Verner we sat together after his return from Euros in Helsinki. After a silver and gold medal in the previous years, a 6th place was a big dissapointment for him. He can however set things straight in a few weeks at the World Championships which starts in a few weeks. We didn't talk about figure skating only, Tomas also revealed things from his cultural differences he encountered till his girlfriend Lucka Vondrackova.
What feelings did you have at the ME, where you were not succesful? I read that you would have liked to fly back right away. Well it wasn't really that I didn't want to see the performances of the other skaters. They interest me and for my work it's important for me to be there on the end. Rather I wanted to avoid the meetings with people who feel regrets for me. I did some unneccessary mistakes during the program and so regret is not in place. ( *sigh* sorry Tommy, but it simply does hurt me to look into your eyes and see such sadness...) I know where the mistakes came from, so I will rather just work to eliminate these.
Closest are worlds in the USA, there you can do smthing True, it's in about 8 weeks. work work WORK is waiting for me!
angry voices believe, that Lucka Vondrackova took a lot of energy from you and that this is the reason why it didn't work for you at Europeans. How do you see that? That's so not true!! Lucka rather gave me energy! These speculations are just stupid and naive. It's similar like I heard that my intelligence is hindering me in getting better results. That I ponder and think too much. I really don't think that my intelligence would just hinder me in my growth in sports. *smiles*
and were you at euros alone or with Lucka? Alone. I am always alone at competitions. It has been like this for some years already. I also talked this through with my parents. It was hard for me to tell them that I would like to be there alone and prepare for the competition. I would feel bad about not being able to spend time and give them what they deserve if they or Lucka would be there. At the championships all the athletes are a littlebit egoists, who think only about themselves and about their performance. I rather sit down and talk about that with them later at home
I understand that. And when there isn't any competition and you hang your skates for a while, what do you like to do the most? For these things there isn't so much time, but I love to ride the bike and play tennis. Other than that I spend a lot of time with friends and in the nature. And also now after I met Lucka I started to visit concerts and the theater. I love the cinema, I am a big fan of films. I really enjoy that. When I come back from the US I would really like to come to this filmfestival in Prague!
what does your training look like? I am train like a classical athlete. It means I train 6 days a week and I have one day off. Every day I am training on ice 3hours on the ice and besides that I also do ballet, modern dance, power training and stretching. Alltogether it's about 5 or 6 hours.
figure skating is I guess one of the most beautiful sports, what about it do you like the most? I am always very much looking forward to competitions. To performances where things go well and I feel the connection with the audience. Nothing can compensate for that! My 16 years of hard work already totally paid off when I became European Champion in 2008. I was very proud and I was so happy also for the people who believed in me when I injured my ankle and leg in 2005.
...to be continued
