Hmm, seems that on FSU a lot of people thought Tomas' marks were low. Two points away from a medal and finally landing that combo after HOW MANY misses this season? That's a huge psychological triumph so far. Just saw the YouTube video, and I'm a little confused about his footwork: I am so used to watching these sequences by now, and seems there were choreography changes and maybe a mistake or two? What do you all think? He looked overall a lot lighter and faster than I've seen him earlier this season... maybe he's being penalised for having such a loose and easygoing style, unlike Lysacek who is very tight and rigid. TANGO TIME! p.s. Looks like a not-bad skating order for the free. Tomas will have some waiting time to calm himself after warmup, and won't have to deal with audience reactions to Lysacek & Joubert.

p.p.s. A bit of prediction/analysis. In terms of medals, which is a secondary issue really... I think the following will need to happen for Tomas to move up (hope I'm not jinxing anything by talking about this):
1) Tomas skates FS near-perfect, of course and 2) Either Joubert or Chan make errors in FS (quite possible)
I think Lysacek is too focused and determined to make any mistakes, and he has the hometown advantage.
As for the other skaters in the final group, staying ahead of Kozuka and Contesti isn't easy but should be possible with a good performance. Oda could jump up the standings as well. With this quality of skaters, a top four or even top six placement would be really great and obviously a huge improvement from last year.

I don 't, why is Tom to fourth! About how much Brian was better? Why is it so few points of this Tom´s program? I think, Tom skated better than Brian! ;D

What do you all think? the end of the slst looks a bit messy, maybe because he had to shorten it because of the NHL rink size? then apart from the beginning of the CiSt it's all the same, I don't see any changes or mistakes.

Tomas Verner again reminded the figure skating world: "Hey! I am here!" He fell back among the standings of the men after Europeans but fought himself back to a 4th place at the SP at worlds. He also jumped the best 4t-3t of the night and fridaymorning he will fight for the medals. Q: The beautiful 4t3t must have given you some selfconfidence before the LP right? A: Of course. It's great fun to land the 4t in practice, because it's an extraordinary jump. But it's even better to jump it at the most important moment you can do it. Q: Did you discuss with your trainers again, wether or not to jump the quad or the triple-triple combination? A: This time we didn't talk about it at all. I can do the 4t, I have it in my repetoire, and I am one of the few skaters who can do it in competition. This kind of advantage among competitors I should use, because the top is very good. At Europeans we still had some reasons not to use the quad toe, but after Europeans I only trained my SP with the 4t3t combo and I didn't plan to somehow change my plans. I wanted to show my 4t and I did. Q: So not one moment you pondered about using it yes or no? A: Well I cannot say I never pondered, but for me the people who took the decision were my trainers and they were sure. What did irritate me is that some French reporters came to ask me, wether or not I would go for something more difficult than a 3-3 combination in the SP. What did they ask that for? It's none of their business. Q: It seemed you really enjoyed your SP A: Yes, that yes. If I wouldn't have, I would have been extremly sad. I wanted to skate that SP with this thought in mind and I wanted to skate it for the audience, because they are important in our sport. The judges also reminded us before the competition, that we compete in the one sport where culture and sport come together and that we should make the connection with the audience stronger. My programs are build like that, and today I really enjoyed my performance. Q: a little mistake though was the fall out of the axel, when you turned around on the other leg. Did you lose concentration after the happiness of landing the quad toe? A: No, it was rather the other way around. I jumped the 4t and shortly I was happy because I never did that yet in the SP. Right after though I told myself: "Now do not celebrate and make some stupid mistake, you have to concentrate" Just I guess I thought about that a little too much (TOMAS! STOP THINKING!! xx Dee) That was bad, I should turn off these thoughts and skate like in training. Because in training my 3A was good and it has been good since Europeans, there was no reason for me not to land it clean. Q: Are you satisfied with your draw for the LP? A: I am going as the 4th in the last group, after me skate only Lysacek and Joubert. It's a good draw. I can rest and come to senses a bit after the warm up and I also do not have to wait almost an hour like for example in Tokyo in 2007. Q: Will you skate the LP with the goal to get a medal minimum? (what kind of stupid ass question is THAT xx Dee) A: About that I don't want to talk. My goal is to skate the LP this way, like Lori Nichol told me to do and like I cando it. When I skate it clean I don't have to worry about anything and things will be good. Q: Didn't you study any point totals of other skaters? A: To me to know one thing is enough. There are 6 skaters and we are all within 6 points of eachother. Chan and Lysacek have 82 points, Joubert has 84, I have 80. These I have in sight. But it's not so important. Q: For the LP these are only minimal differences. Can we say that everything is still open? A: That we can, and tomorrow will be a new day too, a new competition. The only important thing was to get among the best on the start list today, like among those with 80 points and not the 2nd with 70points.

Quotes from Tomas: "I expected a personal best untill I messed up the triple axel. Afterwards for me it was already sure that I would not get as many points. I have to take in consideration that normally I get around 9 points for the axel, and then the judges also didn't really give me a lot of points for my PCS so I suppose I lost about 5 or 6 points there." "If I had done the axel clean, like I usually do, I could have been in 1st place today, but we should stand still and think about it now anymore" (atleast I think that's what he means by what he says, he uses some expression I dunno ) "I have never been in first place yet at worlds, and it wouldn't have been an easy position for me to be in. I am not saying 4th place is better, but it's better to look up than having to keep yourself from falling off the podium" ehm, and then something about enjoying the silence and that there is not so much pressure on him I think? (about draw) "I got a place right inbetween the places I did not want. I am not the first to go and I am not the last one either, so that's good"

Thank you for translating articles. I try so hard to read Czech, understand some words. Use to speak and read Slovak fluently but the two differ greatly. Not using the lanaguage have forgot a lot of it unfortunately. So anxious for Tomas today. So hope he stays calm and does well, love to see him skate 0 he is the best!
