Before I run out of ideas ,I asked a friend(my 2nd half in cinema "addiction" ;P),even though she isn't attached to Figure Skating at all,but good in choosing GOOD soundtracks ......I send her a few links to LPs(SPs&Exh programs, too,so she get's an impression) of the past years&past season and gave her some infos on basic skating !!Even opened a thread on a cinema forum with all the infos+asking for suggestions(also for non-movie-music pieces !! Her comment on the links I send her : I simply will post the messages the way she send them, before I start to select my favs after my taste or if they are suitable or not imo.........: awesome idea Eva!! I look forward to the suggestions!!

She posted a thread on an italian c. forum,as well....so I guess there will come together sooome suggestions!! This are agaaaain, just soundtracks, but I'm sure some other suggestions for non-soundtrack will come up and she will do some researches on that, too(Grazie Angelica )!! 1."Try this one (or anything from this movie).. of course he can edit. But it would be lovely I guess. It has sooo many styles!! And changes the rythm very often "www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEqEra1Lwuk&feature=PlayList&p=9F5959FE91B0C504&index=142."That’s the other few things I thought of now. I’ll be away until tonight I guess! I think that when I’ll come back I’ll find also the suggestions of my friends on the forum 'Ocean’s twelve' (fast though) Already posted before www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOQalTx5aaQ&feature=PlayList&p=FB122DA0092147EE&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=4This is my absolute fav track ever, and has some suspensions.. but I guess it repeats itself too much, and gets too slow in the middle: 'Pride and Prejudice' –your hands are cold Prolly too feminine though! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv-Z8YCo5W4Also, try all the soundtrack from this movie, by Dario Marianelli, there are beautiful things, such as Georgiana (but it’s too short) www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQ08zO55ZUUThe next ones will involve a lot! (all by the one and only John Williams): 'Hook': www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5H0sCdvZ14Indiana Jones : www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6tOFYSI9doTa...tatata.......ta...ta....t a ET (oh God I’m already moved): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb9s3kbAnFQHe also created the star wars soundtrack, and jaws… but I don’t think they’d fit. And probably someone already tried them. And maybe they are so recognizible that it would work better in the gala! I still love anything from Ratatouille!! The OST is all on youtube… it’s fantastic. A cinema friend (on the forum) just suggested: 'Barry Lindon' Far TOO overused and I'm 150% sure Tommy wouldn't choose ,but well I thought to leave it anyway!!www.youtube.com/watch?v=erKsIJyfB_Q&feature=relatedHe said that if he could edit the next two themes, it could come out something good (the vids he could find are played.. but the soundtrack is available on internet, ofcourse) - 'B.L.' number 1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=erKsIJyfB_Q&feature=related- 'B.L.' number 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TtXPJa7ZrYThen he talked about Pinocchio (cause there could be some sort of “acting”+lyrics too, although I guess that’s allowed just in the galas, right?). "3."Ok I got some more suggestions ;-) The ost-genius (a friend of her's) came to our rescue as well, and she proposed some tunes I was thinking about too ;-) she says: ' a bit of Hans Zimmer is always good for skating, though they use it so much they can't tell apart anymore THE GLADIATOR from THE PIRATES , but still, a good ..slide (?) on Davy Jones's notes won't hurt, will it?' www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fur86y7dQJ4Then she knows some themes from Eastwood's movies: The Eiger Sanction di John Williams , very melodic www.deezer.com/fr#music/album/27171for example, il "Main Title". This was the one I would have suggested too www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sYi7rvLTUw ("Prospero's Magic" di Nyman da Prospero's Books) Or things from "eastern promises" ost Tatiana: www.musicme.com/#/Howard-Shore/albums/Les-Promesses-De-L%27ombre-eastern-Promises-bof-0886971668728.htmlthen Morricone has tons of material!! She suggests: www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-O9gBADNHQor From There Will Be Blood, this one, but it's Brahms www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSjgGLK8_fsI think more will come up during this days.Oh and some other people suggest 'Your hands are cold'(my absolute fav as I told you) or also ALL IS LOST by James Horner, from "The New World" OST (so, just so you know, the big score-composers are: John Williams, James Horner, Howard Shore, Nyman, Morricone...and I don't remember anymore). "More to come ..........

I know Kevin already skated to POTC and in general it has been used quite some times already, but this here is a bit which as far as I'm concerned wasn't used yet ....again Hans Zimmer....sorry,he's simply my absolute fav composer,so that might be the reason that most of my suggestions are his pieces : .....listen till the end........... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpQ810mA5_A

I found this website: www.last.fm/tag/instrumental/artiststhere are a lot of artists on it who make instrumental music and you can browse and listen to samples too if you click around a bit... I think there are quite some nice and obscure things you can find there

Hi I'm new here. I've just left a message in the guestbook, but I'm not sure if it reaches Tomas. And I would like to know your opinions too. I personally was very disappointed when I got to know last year that tomas was about to do a tango LP. There are certain themes which are so well-known and popular that they become boring. I remember the same thing happened to Plushenko in 2002 - he wanted to become olympic champion with a Carmen LP. Carmen, tango, time to say goodbye, adagio, swan lake, zorba the greek... these are typical and boring themes. Tomas is a lot more original then these! So my answer to this question: NO, he shouldn't have kept the tango LP, thank god, he didn't, but (although I haven't seen it yet) I have a feeling that this godfather LP cannot be much better either, since the godfather's music and theme is pretty popular, thus boring as well. In my opinion the best LP would be a choreography for an Apocalyptica song. And about the short programme: how about an Elvish medley? I think it would be sooo good, I can see him imitating Elvis, the audiance going mad if I close my eyes . What about your opinions boys and girls? (I guess mainly girls XD)

He says he reads the guestbook, so I guess so about the programs this year, I actually told Tomas in his face that I don't think Zorba is so original he was a bit surprised but yeah I don't like Zorba so much. It's not THAT overused especially in recent years, but I just don't have such good memories of it I like the content of the program a lot though, and it's a lot of fun, so that makes up for it. Godfather isn't so original either, but I think he does use original cuts of the music. I especially like the 2nd (tarantella) part of the program and also the final cut is great. At first I missed the tango a little (IMO it wasn't your regular scheduled tango, especially since he kissed a girl and gets punched in the face for it by some other guy LOL!), but now the godfather program is really starting to grow on me and I love it more and more The original idea is maybe boring, but I think Tomas does good things with it and really tries and succeeds to present the story on ice. OTOH, of course I am not very objective ;D Apocalyptica has been done by Brian Joubert, so I am not sure that would be a good choice. I remember Tomas's idea about Brian skating to Requim.... and Elvis...well it has to be instrumental so then I don't think it would sound as good? or do you have any good links where we can hear?? and Welcome to the forum Jenny!!

thanks for the warm welcome deedee umm, I cannot think about any good instrumantal versions of elvis songs now, but I am sure it could be done easily. I mean a sligthly more rockish version of jailhouse rock or hound dog would be perfect, only the singing should be replaced by a solo guitar. oh, it would be so gooood . and I am sure tomas could "sell" the programme, if you know what I mean. he is able to establish a very good contact with the audience, they would love it so much tomas as elvis, I think it'd be extremely good. and yeah, joubert did one of his LPs for an apocalyptica song (when? 2007? tomas came second in the euros that year, I remember the costumes XD, then it must have been 2007 ), but that was actually a metallica programme, not an apocalyptica programme, even though the song, nothing else matters was played by the apocalyptic guys I think that's only good if a skater has a song, or a style which is his, his own. so if I hear matrix, safri duo, or james bond, I think of brian immediately. if I hear classic music with beautiful violins then plushenko comes to my mind. and if I hear apocalyptica joubert doesn't come to my mind , but tomas could come oh, the chellos, the chellos suit tomas so well here's a good song which would suit him very much: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRtmkNuQ7h8&feature=related

Hello Jenny and welcome! Oh the neverending discussion on overused music... I don't really agree with what you wrote, that pretty popular = boring. I think that even with overused music one can make a very good and interesting program. Of course I'm always "blah" when skaters announce their music choices at the beginning of the season cause I'm always looking forward to some original choices...and then I'm always disappointed But it depends on the choreography, how the skater can "live" what he skates and ... well it is about personal taste of the viewers. As for me, I like both of the music pieces Tomas is skating to this year and actually think that it really suits him. Both of them have certain character and I think Tomas is good at getting into some role, he likes to play on ice! And honestly, Elvis' music is not less used than the 2 pieces he skates to now, I guess there have been many programs skated to it (though probably yes, mostly exhibition numbers). But I agree it would suit his goofy personality!

hi katis! yeah, I know what you mean - that a lot depends on the skater, his personality and his attitude towards the music. I've just watched this godfather programme, and it's pretty good , not as bad at all as I expected. somehow I still miss the story from the choreography. maybe I should watch it again, but at first watch I didn't see the story in it. or it doesn't even have a story? it's just good, catchy music with a talented, good-looking, pretty (I dig the costume ) tomas on the ice doing his job well... but without any story, plot? I don't know... I haven't seen the movie, godfather yet from beginning to end (I know, shame on me, it's a classic), but it's about the mafia, isn't it? so it would have been good to see some "killing", some "drama", some "blood, fighting" in it. But I didn't . am I blind (blond XD) or do you agree and it really doesn't have such an easy-to-follow-and-notice story as for example yagudin's iron mask LP? and about elvis: not many skaters dare to use elvis' music on a championship (the jury usually don't appriciate it). outside, on the exhibitions, that's another thing. bit I don't remember many good, famous programmes to elvis' music. it would suit him so much . would be a lot better than zorba - which I still don't like at all . but I didn't like the toccata & fugue SP either, still, it was great at the end and tomas achieved brilliant positions with it . I hope the same thing will happen to the zorba SP as well

it has a story read this article: absoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Tomas&action=display&thread=3943&page=1#194080Though this was before SA and I saw at SA there were some changes in the choreography. He now also makes a cross which could refer to a couple of things... Watch all 3 movies (I did just recently, just to understand better what he was trying to do on ice ) and you will see that many small details are extremly fitting. and about the killing... I think the godfather himself doesn't do much of the killing...(if at all? I don't remember...) he let's other people do it for him... (so you guys, ready to kill?? ) hajkova/Vincour had an FD to Elvis
