Well, many men did spirals before the new system, mostly as transition in their programs. "Manly" men perfomed it, including Ilia Kulik. They don't practice and do it much anymore because it doesn't get points and is "a waste of time". I don't see it is more girly than many other elements like the jumps they do from back spiral or whatever they call it. Good spiral that goes with the music (not awful spiral sequences that we see in ladies programs) is a beautiful, majestic move. Very powerful. Maybe he could try this in pair with Shizuka? It's not her quality but still very nice. He did sbs spiral with Yuna and I loved it.

stephanie2006, thank you so much for your little present. Loved it, especially the last part from LP practice, love Stephane's smile there. That was such a cute moment, when all the other skaters already left the ice and he did this spiral, definitely it was for the audience and he got the reply he wanted. Agree with elanor, I don't see this move as "girly" and spiral can be very beautiful. I definitely hope to see it sometimes in Stephane's gala programs. Not sure it'll be in AOI though.

I think he looks great on ice no matter what element he does. I don't think the spiral or anything else could make him look feminine. He is indeed really cute waving at the audience, he always seems to notice the fans and i think he really appreciates the support he gets.

I'm not sure where to ask this question (I'm not sure if I should create a new thread) but since this is a thread about a gala I might ask it here. Does anyone have any information about World's Best On Ice in Germany? Because the website won't open for me!
I can't wait for Art On Ice though! I hope the Swiss channels broadcast it as they usually do!!

Me too, freefall! Stephanie2006, lots of thanks for your video! As for the spiral, I totally agree with elanor. Stephane's spiral is beautiful and reminds a bit those by Kulik and Buttle
