There is long discussion about British Nationals and NISA politics on the FSU. I was especially touched by this post. I wonder if the situation is really so complicated... And I wonder if in his words "they have had some excellent results at their International events this season" in the last diary entry John hinted something or he actually didn't mean anything except some nice words. I wonder also if “the Kerrs had to go through it”. Are there any articles about this that wrote about it?

S&J almost gave up trying to win nationals. If you scroll through all the diary entries or possibly the news pages, I am sure there are references to this.

I remember the commentary from Nickly Slater on Eurosport at S&J's first Euros and he said they were held back (referring to nationals) but now they are ready and making a mark (or words to that affect.) This plain p*ssed me off because I felt that the extra two years they would have had in the international scene would've been 2 years in the bag for them.
But who knows? Maybe they wouldn't have had that hunger or determination or grit if they'd been given it all on a plate. Maybe adversity makes you stronger. For some, the cost, the waiting around, the knock-backs, are all too much, and they quit.

Melanie, thanks for your answer. I think, I had some wrong impression about the "past" of British ice dance. I was naive to think that since Torvill and Dean and till Sinead and John it was like a "desert". When we talked they mentioned that once they almost gave up trying to win nationals and that's why they even thought to switch to Ireland. But I didn't think they were really serious about it.

There was a few of us who thought they were robbed on more than one occasion, but on the opposite side there were people who told us to get over it. So reading FSU posts is a bit deja vu, I'm afraid.
