It would have been cool to see John & Sinead do something like Memorial Requiem. Plus Evgeny would be the best man to help them !. Ingo Stauer has passed over a lot of music he skated to with Mandy Woetzel to S&S. Including their Free Skate for this year-Out Of Africa. I remember watching them skate to that in 2000 in Katerina Witt's Summer Night On Ice. I was watching some tapes of Salt Lake City last night. I forgot how good Maria Butyraskaya was. She was one of my favourite ladies skaters. While watching the Ice Dance event, I still don't get Lobotcheva & Averabukh winning the silver or Fuser-Poli & margaglio winning bronze. But I loved Bourne & Kraatz OD & Annisina & Pezerats Free Skate. I would love to see how an Olympics would be judged if you brought in several trained judges who had NEVER seen ANY of the couples before !.

“After we came 12th at Turin in 2006, we realised we had to do something to go on to the next stage,” John says. 10th!

It's pretty common for the papers to get facts wrong about them, but for them to get facts wrong about them is bizarre!

That's the press for you !. They only care about Winter sports every 4 years when the Olympics come around. If this was Andy Murray going into Wimbledon we would know what he had for breakfast & which side of the bed he sleeps on !. It's a pity because such little coverage & shows like Dancing On Ice still show skating in the-VERY loud outfits, Torvill & Dean 80's light. Skating has come such a long way since then. I'm proud to be a fan of skating now. We are one of the few sports who don't have bad role models. So looking forward to the Olympics. Aside from the men's event (which could be another Plushenko parade) I think each event is very open.

There are certainly skaters who can compete with Plushenko.. and I hope they skate their best so that they can!

So great to see them on Olympic ice again!! Ooo, speaking of Olympic ice, does anyone know if they plan on showing "Olympic Ice" segments again? Those were awesome! I watched a fair share in Lake Placid.. wish I was going to be there again this time (Canadian AND American television--chances are pretty good you'll see what you want to see!) I LOVE the edges! www.gettyimages.com/detail/96579041/AFP

There are certainly skaters who can compete with Plushenko.. and I hope they skate their best so that they can! there certainly are and I hope so too!! Must say that especially after reading an interview in the czech press with P. yesterday I want just anyone but him to win. But I fear there is another strong competitor the others will have to fight with - the judges. Hopefully they will do a fair job. Good luck to Sinead and John, they look amazing on the olympic ice! I can't wait for my night turning into a day and day turning into a night to see skating live!(and try to combine it with my work and school schedule ;D ) Opening ceremonies starting 3am here

I too would love to see ANYONE but Plushenko win the Olympic Gold, but you are right. The judges LOVE him. Turin was so boring because the judges gave him such high marks in the short programmme that he could have fallen twice in the long & still the others would have been playing catch-up. I can't understand why his presentation marks are so high when it's the same choreography no matter what the music is, yet Lambiel is so graceful, as is Weir. Also it's unfair that he goes away for 3 years & only comes back when there is another Olympic gold on offer (and more money). I bet he won't even show up for the Worlds. >:

Soooo looking forward to it!
On the men's event, I'll be rooting for Stephane - he's my favourite. Hopefully he can do a better SP than at the Euros. If he skates his best, he could beat Plushenko (hopefully!)
