Yey, allez Stephane and S&J. Not bothered about the women altho I'd love to see Carolina do well. Love pairs and whoever's best is ok with me! lol Seems like we're all on the same line I'm rooting for Stéphane too! and Delschoes too. They have grown on me lately + I'm French + skating together for more than 20 years and a baby 3 months ago = true olympic story, a gold medal would be amazing

Me neither, I saw Penny, Stacy, David, Jenna. Wasn't Stephane happy carrying the Suisse flag?

For some reason I couldn't make it out the majority of the British guys at the Opening Ceremony - I think it was because of the hats they had covering their hair. I thought it was easier to spot the girls due to their longer hair styles.
During the Opening Ceremony I was particularly moved by the sadness, bravery and respect shown by Georgian team. It really hit home to me the magnitude of the sacrifices made by all athletes in order to succeed within their sport. I can only say that I have the utmost respect for all competitive athletes and wish all of the athletes good luck at the Winter Olympic Games.

US TV showed both John and then Sinead walking. They looked to be having a GREAT experience!! That must've been so hard for the Georgian team to participate so soon after such a tragic event. They were very solemn, of course, but I'm glad they decided to walk and represent their country and that of their fallen teammate.

I'd therefore encourage you to blow all your savings on competition tickets (but that would also be a little irresponsible of me.. ;D) Yes, I plan to be a bad (?) influence on you and tell you to spring for the tix. Well, well, well ... savings blown! ;D Got a ticket to the Free Dance today!!! Told the cashier she made my day, lol, and walked home with the biggest grin on my face! Was at the Pairs/Men practice this morning, it was great. I know nothing about technics, but Kawaguti/Smirnov were impressive! Men: Lambiel was his usual cute-self Landed a 4T, but mainly just skated around and once throught his SP. We were pushed out at 1.00 so we did not get to see the Russian team. Next stop: Port Moody on tuesday for the Brit open practice In the meantime, my pix from this morning (and a couple more from yesterday opening day in Vancouver) --> here<--

Sinead posted photos on FB.
Question: What all was in the things on the back of each seat? I assume the flashlight and the things people were wearing was part of it.

I've been laid up in bed for two day's with a stomach bug, so I got to see a lot of the Olympics so far. I found myself watching (And enjoying) for the first time, Biathlon & ski jumping !. So looking forward to the pairs tonight. It could be a Chinese clean sweep, but don't count out what Canadian support could do for their teams. I was not keen on Sav/Sol short prog at Europeans but I loved their free skate. I'm thinking that Virtue & Moir (who I like, but don't love) could win the Ice Dance gold medal. The French have always been prone to errors & no competition in over a year could hurt them. In the womens I think that Joannie Rochette could get a medal if she skates well. She was lucky to win world silver last year, but a home Olympics will boost her chances. I'm torn over who I would like to see win the men's. I love Lambiel but Brian Joubert has worked so hard the last 4 years & it would be a cruel blow for him to see Plushenko come back after 4 years & win gold. I bet Plushenko comes back again for 2014. A Russain Olympics?, could his ego take him NOT being there?!
