What an exciting time it has been these last few weeks with all the shows and subequent articles, videos and photos. Thank you all who have provided them, they have been wonderful. This last video from the Kings on Ice practice shows how musical Stéphane is, he cannot stay still when music is playing and compared to Evgeni, Brian and Johnny, he's the one who best moves to the music, or to put it in another way, he lets the music move him. He reminds me of an affectionate cat the way he hangs on to Weir in that earlier video and Trankov here! Very cute - Stéphane comes across as a very touchy-feely person. I get the feeling that although the skaters are among people all the time and see thousands of fans everywhere they go, there's nothing quite as lonely as a hotel room in a foreign country when you've been on the road for a few weeks. During Vancouver in an interview Evan Lysacek said that he is very lonely despite all the commotion going around him. With all the travelling, hours of training and competition, forming and holding on to a close personal relationship must be one of the most difficult things to accomplish.

I agree with everything you've just written, miryam. One reason I really like Johnny Weir's TV show is that it shows the loneliness and pressure a skater endures to present his/her art. Johnny comes across as quite vulnerable, despite his outrageousness. I feel some guilt that skaters and dancers go through this and suffer injuries to create something I can just sit and enjoy. So, it made me very happy to watch the youtube from the Russian press conference where Stephane expressed how happy performing on the ice makes him and that he has no complaints about the professional skating life.

Stéphane comes across as a very touchy-feely person. Yes he does! He was quite touchy-feely with Arakawa at the Thin Ice show too! He really does remind me of an affectionate house cat. Here's a video from the Stockholm show - sorry if it's already been posted - it's very cute how he kisses each one of the little girls who bring him flowers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=re8Hmjqan-o

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to be disrespectful - I have the utmost respect for Stephane as an athlete and artist. I think what I was trying to get across is that he seems utterly guileless and uncalculated in expressing his affection towards people - which is a wonderful quality to have I think. Plus - I like cats a lot (as if it wasn't obvious from my moniker!) - they are beautiful creatures. But I can see why maybe Stephane wouldn't like being compared to a house pet so I'll refrain from making the comparison again. Thanks for the videos and photos too.
