Johnny Weir renounces to the World Championship www.usfigureskating.org/Story.asp?id=44361&type=mediaHe will be replaced by Adam Rippon I'm so sad for Johnny, this season he was improving a lot, and he was a medal contender in Turin In the other hand I'm so happy for Adam, I fell in love with him at 2009 TEB, and I see on him the future of skating, I wanted him in Turin Bittersweet news

Hmm, Johnny is all talk in the end... Maybe he realized even his best is not good enough to take him to the podium if he doesn't improve his skating and programs. His coach didn't do him much favors. At least, no more "waz robbed" nonsense. Sad to think about not realized potential, his skating was really great and beautiful when I first saw him in 2004 but he never developed from this and his programs regressed. Ther's a new generation of American skaters and some of them very talented.
Plushenko seems to be not able to move with his life, kind of sad too. Lysacek is the Olympic champion and most succesful competitor of last four years, nothing's gonna change it, he can laugh at all the talk and the others not accepting reality.
Many skaters not going or injured will be a chance for those who missed on the podium so far. Team Japan is the strongest with the best skaters. It would be great if Takahashi (and others) ditches stupid quad and shows great programs. It would also be nice for Abbott and Verner to not have meltdown for once and be on the podium where their right place is.
Ladies will be a bore as usual, but at least Yuna and team Japan is skating.

Me like quad ;)but also the true artists. I hope for Dai who is (along with Lambiel )the most complete skater of them all.I also like Jeremy Abbot and of course Tomas Verner :-*Then we have all they so called new guys Artem,Florent,Javier among others. It will be a great comp and not to forget Joubert (I hope he will be ok) and Plush. Since I am from Sweden I root specially for Adrian too. That it about the men for now Maria

I think Worlds will be a great competition in spite of some not going. That gives others the chance to show what they are made of, like Adam Rippon, yea! And I have to disagree about the ladies. Years ago they made me sleepy but at some competitions they have been more exciting to watch than the men. Give them a chance and enjoy the classic beauty of grace and elegance in spirals and layback spins, but also the power of steps and jumps, and some awesome ways to interpret music. Go ladies

There still are loads of talented skaters--there were so many top skaters at the Olympics it was crazy! As always, I hope everyone skates really well and either the skaters already had the most stressful competition of the season or they have been lucky to be added to Worlds so maybe that will light the fire within!

These Worlds feel like a real bonus, somehow I had it in my mind that the world would stop after Vancouver. But no, we've got another whole week of skating extravaganza to look forward to. Wheee...

I didn't mean any disrespect for the ladies, they are very talented and I admire their athletic abilities and high technical skills. It's not their fault they have to skate the programs they do. Just watching 30 identical programs with almost the same dresses and music (Carmen and piano concerto for 101th time ) puts me to sleep sometimes. And bring back beautiful spirals, the current rules make them look like the worst move ever invented. Their presentation I can enjoy well in exhibition, some are great. Especially Mao, Suzuki, Laura Lepisto but also many others. Looking forward to competition. I hope that skaters who were in the shadow will get their moment to shine, this is good in competition after the Olympics.

I understand how you feel about the ladies but it just makes those who stand out stand out even more. I appreciate watching them a lot probably because I am a skater myself and minus the triples and super speed on spins, that's what I do and I can learn from it cause I'm NOT *that* good, lol.
