I am so sorry serenityblue and marlin - I confused the two of you. The great quality video that I was talking about was provided by you, marlin, of course. So, thank you! But thank you serenityblue for your efforts as well.

It was great seeing Stephane on tv. I was wowed that he did the quad in spotlights...just awesome, even with the hand down. But the whole show to me, wasn't that great. Most of the skaters on the show are SOI skaters and the programs were kinda of...meh. I kinda wish Stephane wouldn't have given up his eligibility for this "show."

Thanks everyone for your links, videos and impressions. I kind of missed everything going on in the past few days(exam week in school) and reading the comments about them not really skating as a pair i had this image of each skating in their own half of the rink or something like that...totally wrong I actually thought they've done a good job, it was to be expected that the level of the competiton won't be so high, though i hoped it would be a little heavier than it actually was. It seemed a little superficial, everything. I didn't like the song that much either, the chorus repeated 100 times...totally annoying. Then that intro and the fact that they(the producers, or the people in charge with making the editing) had to play the "is there something going on between you guys"-card...extremely cheap in my opinion. Why can't they concentrate on the fact that they are great skaters and not some teenagers who fool around on the ice at practice? The programme was nice, didn't care much for Stephane's eye make up...but it's TV so i guess it was unavoidable. Annoying with the judges' commentary like they should've done more teamwork, i thought they said it was ok with singles too. I wonder how much of the choreography was their choice and how much was the choreographers, maybe they just went along with what they were adviced to do I voted...not as frenetically as some of you (yes Sally, i'm thinkin of you...great job btw)...hope they will be satisfied with the outcome...but it's more important to have a good time and just skate with passion.

WOW!! I can't believe Stephane put a picture of himself with the flower bouquets from Upnights and me!! I admit it was Upnight's idea that he might appreciate knowing we'd be in the audience cheering for him. Perhaps I can send flowers again tomorrow with a plea that he attend the autograph session? OK, it was taking 15 minutes of download time on mediafire for my video so I just put it on Youtube. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWgw1P3V-v4Am I going to be arrested?

Then that intro and the fact that they(the producers, or the people in charge with making the editing) had to play the "is there something going on between you guys"-card...extremely cheap in my opinion. totally agree. that was a cheap trick seemed more like they were taking advantage of Shizuka's poor English and then just edited all the confusion together or something. but i guess that's entertainment tv and this sells well the voting is over now. our part is done and hopefully we did it well and it's great to know that Stephane also received those flowers that some nice fans from here sent to him!! thanks for sharing your links, efosko and marni!

Now, when I have watched all the performances in better quality, I can finally comment on them.
I don't even know where to start.
freefall and hannaruth, I agree with you that the programs, except Stephane's and Shizuka's, as well as Elena's and David's, were technically quite simple. But I don't agree that they were boring. After reading all the articles about the show I didn't expect "art on ice" from it. It was pretty clear that it was going to be pure entertainment without much artistry. So, without such expectations, the show was quite fun to watch.
On the one hand, it's a bit unfair, but, on the other hand, I can't disagree with judges about Shizuka's and Stephane's program. It was a bit too noticable that they are both single skaters. They did the best of their single skating elements, but I think they should have tried to skate together as a pair a bit more.
And here I again don't agree with you, freefall. It's true that the judges said that they don't expect Stephane and Shizuka to do difficult pair elements, but I don't remember them saying in any of the articles that they didn't have to try to be a pair on ice. It doesn't necessarily mean pair skating or ice dancing lifts or complicated twizzles, and so on - just dancing together a bit more. Otherwise, what's the point of this? All of them are great skaters, and can do impressive technical elements. But I think they went to that show to do new things, things that they are not used to. But in Stephane's and Shizuka's case we just saw everything that we have already seen before.

Don't misunderstand me, it's not like I didn't like Stephane's and Shizuka's performance. They both did great elements (the quad ), great moves (just would have liked to see even more of them), had great costumes, and, generally, just looked great! ;D As for the other couples: Shae-Lynn and John had a quite simple program, but vere wery sexy and had such a chemistry that was almost tangible, although I didn't see them live. Elena and David were nice, and definitely had great elements. Maybe they didn't have the chemistry that Shae-Lynn and John had, but people are different - probably such "sassy" hottness is not their natural style. Jamie and Patrice were sexy and expressive as well, but, still, their performance lacked something for me. Probably it was music, which I didn't like at all. Finally, Marie-France and Michael. In my opinion, their choreography was the most interesting, and they just had that "something". I agree that they probably could have done some things even better, but they were good anyway. I guess, a lot of that is thanks to Marie-France's praised elegance and beauty. That is quite rare when a woman manages to be so elegant and sexy at the same time.

I just spoke to upnights on the phone. She was at the preview show today. She said Stephane and Shizuka came in FIRST PLACE in the online voting. They announced it at the show. GOOD JOB YOU GUYS! She said Stephane and Shizuka got to skate last as a reward for their 1st place finish, and the Beyonce routine was fabulous. She said Stephane and Shizuka seemed very relaxed and happy. Apparently the voters are smarter than the judges in this case.
