Thank you pia! Stephane was the flag bearer for Switzerland at Oly's in Vancouver 2010. In this short radio report he tells that entering the stadium with the flag was crazy for him, lights and stars all over and the whole team behind him. He had the impression to somehow carry the team and it was a big honor for him to guide them during the opening ceremony. At the same time he felt a big pressure: Entering the stadium he knew already that this would be the last competitions for him and that after Vancouver he would turn himself to something new. (I am looking forward now to hopefully interesting and beautiful competitions in Sochi … - despite a tiny little bit of nostalgia )

Thank you, reut, for all the news. on SRF (German): www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7s_IQ3yBaoMaybe someone could translate this one? If I understood it was most about Plushenko ? (he actually didn't skate ) They showed Stephane's program in Vancouver, was there something new that he said? It seems so many things happened since then and it was so long ago...

Thanks a lot, reut, for the links!
What a lovely picture, emotional Stephane after the victory of his friends Tanja and Max (I was happy for them and sad for Savchenko/Szolkowy at the same time. Would have wished Savchenko/Szolkowy could get a medal for their lifetime merits, if s'thing like that existed).
The radio and TV-interviews are similar. Stephane tells that he tries to postpone his flight back home to stay in Sochi two more days. He actually needed to train for AOI and found facilities to do so in Sochi. He tells about his own olympic experiences, about his project to have a skating school and about how much russian athletes are supported by their audience. And he is asked about Evgeni Plushenko, skating his fourth olympic games.
About Vancouver He tells that he can understand if somebody is disappointed with a bronze medal (making allusion to a swiss skier he watched before). In Vancouver he felt after the first jumps that it wouldn't work out for a gold medal. He already had silver and didn't want bronze. While skating he knew that it wouldn't be enough. Afterwards he felt empty. It was difficult for him to digest. But after some days … and today, he's proud of what he achieved, his success was to get until Vancouver (after his injuries). He had his ambitions till there; it was clear for him to give everything until Vancouver, and that after it would be over for him.

I try to translate some parts too. Host asks - you feel all those emotions here in Sochi, you are former athlete - dont you feel the wish to compete again? S: I experienced 3 Olympics and it was really incredible but with me is so - if it is over, then it is over. Nowadays I'm content with the life I live, I skate in shows, I'm active in figure skating, and I have now a project to create a skating school in Switzerland. Right now here is no swiss figure skaters competing in Sochi and I hope in 4 years we'll have someone. Maybe a medal.... it's hard but I will work for it. Host -you missed a medal in Vancouver. Was it easy to say adieu? S: It was not easy. I heard that Lara (Gut) was not happy with bronze and I understand her. When I was in Vancouver I felt after my 2 first jumps -it gonna be not enough for a gold. I had already silver and bronze I didn't want. Host: you felt all that while skating? S: Yes, while skating. You feel -that's not enough. And then you are like empty. And I understand her, she gave everything and is not happy with bronze. But she must go forward, she has more chance to get a medal and I hope she does it. At the moment it was hard for me to digest it but now I know I'm proud about what I did and my success was my journey to Vancouver. Host: (something, I hope its more or less right) You had your adductor's injury -here is Plushenko who had numerous injuries and operations and still competes? S: Yes, russians are incredible and find always a solution. He is my friend but he's also the best figure skater and I can only admire how he is on the ice. he is in top shape, he jumps well etc, etc. More about Plushenko: "He is crazy, positively crazy. Already in 2002 he got silver medal, I was then only 16 and looked up to him like to an idol. And today is he still here. And I see him... Host asks - You see him still as an idol? S: (a bit confused about this question) I see what he does on the ice and I can't understand it. Host: Why? S: Because when I see me - I gave everything in competitions and now it is over and behind and I can't understand why he still needs all that? He has all those olympic medals what does he really need? I fulfilled my dreams and now there is another step in my life... And I'm asking myself -when is he ready to take a new step in his life? We will have a tour in Russia ith him and I'll surely speak with him about how he did all that and how he lived with all this pressure, media, how it was to fight for that only one spot. oops, jomeku already translated. but i leave my translation here too for all the cases
