Japanese TV interview to sports photographer "Tanaka Nobuaki(田中宣明)", he talked about Stephane Lambiel, I was so touched from his every word. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhmcphIuA9Q※Special thanks to Kira and Jamie for translating Japanese and English. The professional skater that most impressed me is Stephane Lambiel. His body lines are in the completely different level than other skaters. Headlines, backlines, and waist line ...Any angles are so beautiful. I don’t know why that I didn’t have any feeling for him when he was a competitive skater. But when he became a professional skater, only Lambiel's performance I won’t get tired of shooting. No matter how many times. And only he will make me want to continue to shoot photos. “Oh, I missed this shot. Oh, I missed that shot, too.” Many thoughts would appear in my mind. I wanted to capture both close or long distance, so I took a lot of lenses with me, and it’s really difficult when I have to change the lens. I took this “Long Shot” lens, but the “Medium Close-Up“ camera was hanging on my neck. After I saw his skating once, I can probably understand the content of the show. When he slides here, I used this shot. And when he slides over there, I used the long shot, or sometimes I use the wide-angle shot. When he was practicing or in the backstage, I didn’t feel such a strong aura. However, when he started performing, the atmosphere became so powerful and strong. It was amazing. When he was in his costume, he was like in another world. It was so beautiful (handsome) that even he was just simple skating around.

Beautiful words, thanks for translating. I know this photographer (not personally, I know his name and saw him), he was at both "Ice Legends" shows if I'm not mistaken. If you check, you'll see that many of the photos IL used on their social media are copyrighted with his name. His shots are really, really good, loved them. (Of course, I wouldn't agree about aura being present only during the show and in costume - in every single rehearsal or warm up, doesn't matter how many other skaters are on the ice, he absolutely grabs your attention to him and the way he moves. IMHO )

Thank you, taipeifollowers (and to your 'helpers' Kira and Jamie for translating)!
Beautiful words, as reut says. And I also agree with her: he definitely captures peoples attention also while rehearsing. I witnessed this once again during this years 'Intimissimi on ice' warm-ups before the show. It's endlessly fascinating to watch.

Thank you, taipeifollowers! It's always interesting to "see" Stephane from someone's professional point of view.

How on earth to you find those things, reut ??! And how on earth do you manage to upload it on youtube, taipeifollowers??! Thanks to both of you!! Do you understand French, taipeifollowers? I like Emeli Sandé's voice. But the song? It reminds me a bit (much) on "Run". I'm curious about Stéphane's approach, though. He says it's a pleasure for him to work on the choreography to this music. But that sometimes people on the ice say: "Stop! It's two hours now that we hear the same music". But when working on it it's a pleasure for him to create, to find new movements; "there's an infinity of movements and possibilities... and the piece will be a quite contemporary one".... Sounds interesting

jomeku, "Art on Ice" instagram announced a quiz where I read about this interview, so I just checked that radio's site and found. That was very simple. For me more or less all lady singers at AOI were singing songs which reminded one another (maybe, except Jessy J).

I was always curious what reason that he chose the song, maybe "Read all about it" was not easy to choreograph(the song a bit like repeat and repeat the same melody), but I checked other versions of Read all about it, it sounds like the "live version" is better than the original?! Like this : www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q03E7oTc5qo(I like this )

Thank you for asking me, jomeku. I don't understand French , so I really want to know what he said, thank you for your translation. Ok, I'll try to help then. I' don't have the time right now for the above mentioned radio interview. Just very roughly out of my memory: Marc Lindegger from AOI says that they couldn't invite more young, still competing skaters for the coming AOI, because they were too busy in the Olympic year. Stéphane laughs when the moderator tells him that he almost is part of the AOI inventory ... after having participated in the show sixteen times in a row by now. (Talking of AOI: this years show will once more be on Swiss TV SRF-2 on December 25, 6:25 -8:10 pm (at about the same time like 'Intimissimi on Ice' on Canale 5, though)

An article in Russian sports page about "rebellious genius" Stéphane Lambiel from December 16 : www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/mezhdunami/1508460.htmlI read it with help of google translate, it's worth it to make the effort. Isn't it amazing how Stéphane is still praised in an article in such a big skating nation like Russia!

It's not an article, it's just a fan blog. (Also, to my taste not really well-written) It's really nice that he is loved still (comments there are nice too), but this is definitely not "an article in a big skating nation".
