Idem ... Thank you for the photos! The thing for me is ... I am not only sad because it was his farewell to AOI. But I am (too) well aware that more farewell's, to other shows, might slowly be approaching, and we might not know it in advance. I still have to get (more) used to the idea...

From my talk with Salome, to make your mood a little bit better:
I wanted to ask you, what do you think, how many years Stéphane still has on ice? Oh, I feel that Stéphane still has many years to perform.
Because with more students that he takes, I feel like he has less and less shows… And I’m worried. You shouldn’t be worried, no. I think at the moment he makes sure that he has both, he finds a way - sometimes it's very intricate, it's very difficult - but he makes sure that he finds a way to do both. And he really loves teaching. Teaching someone is a long process, it's like growing a plant. But it’s so nice, so special to follow it.
But, yeah, don't wait for the next year or better opportunity, try to see him on the ice when you can. Also, among other things, with this tough sport you never know...

Thank you very much, Reut ! AOI this year was such a complex show, and you manage to give a perfect overall picture ! Wow Salome says: "I think that's where it needs to stop (...)", when you observe that the direction AOI takes at the moment is 'less solo performances and more of complex group numbers which combine more and more various arts'. I actually don't think this will stop. Switzerland is by far not a "figure skating nation" as is Japan or Russia (Stéphane had difficulties to fill Genève-Vernets stadium with "Ice Legends" even for one single show, despite alle the top stars with their top numbers (and 'Vernets' stadium has not even half the size of Zurich 'Hallenstadion'). I have the feeling, in order to continue to be successful, AOI will even expand the direction of 'complex group numbers and more and more various arts' in the future. Success proved them to be on the right track with their concept. Also, the group numbers with, for example, Elladj Balde, get as much applause as get solo or pair skaters. And Stéphane? Even if he had the time and energy for another "Ice Legends", I doubt if Switzerland would be the right place to do it, unfortunately. 'Unfortunately' because I fear there will not be so many opportunities to see Stéphane skating in Switzerland - or Europe - after he put and end to AOI.

Thank you, jomeku! Glad you liked the article. Actually, when the text was already edited and I was working on the page I noticed that I even didn't mention once(!) Olympic champions in the cast - Tania&Max, Aljona&Bruno. And for sure didn't mention many other things, aspects and people... But it was too long already as it is. Writing an article is usually quite unrewarding work, because it takes much more time and efforts than an interview and almost never gets comments... About filling the stadiums, I don't know. AOI started 25 years ago also without such huge concept and without Switzerland being FS nation (although Denise Biellmann was a big name back then and her participation definitely made a difference), but they were bold enough to go on that. Also, it's wonderful that they have their "niche". And they do with it a very beautiful job, group numbers this year looked really, really good, loved them. They were complex, interesting, impressive, really well combined. Maybe they will continue with it, I don't know, it less interests me at the moment as Stéphane won't be a part of the cast, so I don't plan to come to see it again. Stéphane has different concept in his mind for the "Ice Legends", maybe the ideal way he wants it to work is not possible, but maybe it will be possible to adjust it. After all "Music on Ice" successfully continues for quite some time, since 2011 I think, has two full evenings, but in smaller stadium. It's a very different brand from what AOI do, but it is successful in the niche they chose. Btw they also have some smaller shows in Ticino and master classes for children and more work, so we actually see only small part of the whole this production does. I still hope Stéphane will be able to produce his own show, but he will need good professionals to help him. It's nice that he built his team from his friends, but maybe that was not good enough. Also, he is very busy now with his school, if he really wants to do it, he'll need to learn to delegate A LOT and to be involved much less than he was previous two times. I also recalled that next season Youth Olympic Games will take place in Lausanne. I wonder how much Stéphane will be involved (I'm sure he will be involved), maybe he'll even do the opening ceremony or who knows what. Maybe it is one of the projects he meant when he wrote his message. Of course, it upsets me that currently the only maybe show in Europe, and that one is not sure, will be in January. But let's wait and see... Just a random thing I noticed yesterday: "Art on Ice" Facebook page has 36K likes, Stephane's FB page has 65K.

I would think that when you can write an interesting 12 pages article without even mention Tati & Max, Aljona & Bruno etc, it only reflects the complexity of the new AOI show concept. And their new direction and priorities. Yes, the show 'overwhelmed all the senses' and was impressive and beautiful and James Blunt was great etc. Still, the same for me, I don't intend to go to see it again ... Unless they come with Yuzuru Hanyu (whom I really want to see live once ... even though rather in competition than in a show) and a star musician like ... i don't even know. From the fan meeting with Stéphane in Minsk, I didn't get the impression he has short term plans with "Ice Legends" or an adapted show. You say Stéphane has 'different concept in mind for 'Ice Legends'. Did he say something more precise? I vaguely remember he once mentioned a dream like a 'story told on ice', kind of extended "Le poème" or such. I don't know. Come what may, I also think experienced professional help would be needed. Maybe the 'Hyoen' show will give him interesting new ideas . I also thought about Youth Olympic games and am also quite persuaded he will be involved in a way. Opening ceremony with him (and some others) participating would be great!

By different concept in mind I meant "pure skating" show, nothing new or more detailed, no, the last time we discussed it with him was before "Ice Legends" 2016 and all what he said was in the article back then. I understand we shouldn't really expect "Ice Legends" in 2019... but maybe in 2020?

Maybe later ... because 2020 there's the Youth Olympics ... and - maybe - Stéphane busy with it. Besides all the competitions with his students. But then ... Stéphane will be 35 in 2020. He not only once said he'd wish to skate until about 35. So, not much time to loose. We'll see ... (hopefully )
