Well the Olympics is the highest achievment for a sporter. So if you get the gold medal, maybe you will think: maybe it is time to move on. No more big pressure in the next competitions, the stress every time over and over again. I can understand that. It isn't a system, it is just how the sporters (all sporters) are feeling about aiming for the highest possible. It is the choice of the sport him/herself. But most of the skaters who are thinking about this are already a long time in the skating field. So that isn't a suprise that they want to skate the last time Olympics and then stop. But the fact is: Stephane just mentioned it in one interview, so no panic girls. It isn't like he just put out a press confrence and announced it And if he stops.... well it would be sad, but it is his choice and he will shine in all the other things he will do (skating or non-skating related) with the same passion like he does always.

Oh ok,now I understand. Thanks for your explination. That makes things clearer to me.Perhaps I'm just overreacting after just hearing this once from an not so recent interview. P.S. But what if he is thinking about all this if he wants to stop or not? I mean he has time until next year to tell us how he's decided... He musn't already anounce it now... Ok,I'm getting paranoid..

I totally agree with you Fransje! Definately, the Olympic medail is the biggest achievement you can have!! Another things is, that the sporters can want more of these medails...

Definately, the Olympic medail is the biggest achievement you can have!! That's true, many athlets think that and act like that. But let's hope that Stephane will continue, figure skating world would be sad without him...

I haven't been here for a long time (thank God the school's been choosen) and this thread made me feel sad. I can't imagine figure skating without our Stephane. I hope so to see him at Euros in Warsaw in 2007. No, I know he must be there at Euros because in the other way I will jump to river or something But seriously I must see him live. I must must mustmust just MUST! I will be waiting for Celine informations about Stephane's decisions in this case. He must skate to his 40th birthday

Let's hope Stéphane thinks like that a little bit right now I hope he thinks like this too.I just hope it's not the other way around. And I must agree with Erufushia too.I must see him once in my lifetime in real skating on ice but this year and next year it won't be possible and what if he'll stop? Then all the people that want to see him will never see him after the Olymps *sigh* I won't jump into the river, though there is a river just where I live but I'll be very sad.I don't want to sound egoistic but this is my *sigh* dream to see him.....Uhm,is Céline already in Russia?
