I talked to Ken briefly today, and he said he'll be skating in Summer Skate 2006 in Thornhill. I'm excited for this competition, and I'm looking forward to seeing him skate live and cheer him on in person! I can't get the Senior Mens Entries page to work , but all the information is/will be posted on this website: www.skatecanada-centralontario.com/2006-7%20eventsresults.htmThe competition is Aug 17- 20, though Ken will be skating on Aug 19 and 20. Anyone planning on going to this competition too? Go Kenny!!

As long as they allow cameras into the arena, you can be sure i'll take as many photos as i can!

Anyone planning on going to this competition too? Ooops, I've almost forgotten it's this time of the year again! I'll be in Thornhill on Sunday, and depending on my schedule, maybe on Saturday.

(both of you) Haha, I've been totally out of the loop when it comes to skating since after Worlds, and it's likely to stay like that for a while, Thornhill apart that is. Oh well, blame my schedule! The venue is a 30-minute drive away from where I live, not bad at all

Megi: have you been to Summer Skate before? Are there a lot of people who go to watch it? I don't want to be there all day, so i was thinking of getting there just before Senior Mens starts. But i want to have a good view of the skaters. I've never been to that arena either, so i don't know how big it is...
The venue is about a 10-15 minute drive from where i live, so it's very close.

Yup, I've been to Thornhill tow previous years and really enjoyed it. The event has a very unique feel to it, I'm sure you'll love it. The arena, I'm referring to the one that hosts senior events, has seats at only one side of the ice (opposite the judges), and there's that annoying hockey netting obstracting the view But overall, wherever you choose to sit you'll have a relatively good view. As for crowd attendance, the rink is usually quite full on Sunday, especialy for the men's event. As for this year's schedule, I'll be definitely skipping ladies' LP on Sunday morning. I should be there for the rest of senior events though.

Thanks for the info, Megi. Seats on only one side, eh? That sounds kinda small...
Are we allowed to bring cameras? I don't see why we wouldn't be, but i want to make sure...

Results after the short program: www.skatecanada-centralontario.com/Irma/html/smrs.htmlGood job, Ken!! His SP was interesting. I enjoyed it. I don't know what the music was, but his costume certainly gives you an idea of what the music is! Black (leather?) pants with a bright pink/red shirt. He skated first because some skaters withdrew from the competition. Got a pretty big cheer from the crowd! I think he missed one of his jumps, but i don't remember which one. Sorry, i can't remember details of the program. I'll post pictures when i can. My camera battery decided to die on me halfway through the competition so i can't upload them yet. Hopefully they turn out okay. I was quite impressed with some of the other skaters too. I just wish i had the nerve to talk to them after the competition.
