The sports gala is put on every year. Two years ago Lina was nominated in the category "best newcomer", but she didn't win... This year no skaters at all are nominated, which is sad. Soccer, tennis, golf and track & field take way too much room in the gala if you ask me. Sweden has several promising skaters and I wish that would show at an event like this. Still, I'm very glad Filip is there. He's a social guy so I hope he gets his picture taken a lot and can give Swedish skating a face.

That's true, it seems that figure skating up there doesn't get the attention it deserves and it's really sad!!! I have friends up there who are sports-fans but hadn't really known that Sweden is the World Champion in Team Skating and that you've had skaters in Europe's "top ten"... It seems that most people think there are no promising skaters up there and just leave figure-skating unnoticed while other sports get all the attention... If Team Surprise's medals haven't managed to change this, then what can? Figure Skating is ignored in Greece too, but at least we have some "good reason" for that: There're no icerinks here and no Greek skater (they're all immigrants' offspring training abroad actually, none of them lives here) has made it into the free program in competitions for years! (Let's see if Zeus Issariotis makes it this week...)//Edit: Just curious: What does Filip sound like when commentating on his friends' performances??

Just curious: What does Filip sound like when commentating on his friends' performances?? Filip can get quite emotional and involved when other Swedes skate. Although Kristoffer and Adrian are his rivals, they are also friends and he cares very much how they do, he wants them to succeed. Overall his commentating is very well balanced. He won't talk non stop through programs like some commentators do, and he always offers great explanations about technical stuff like elements, rules, CoP (he has passed the test as technical specialist) etc. Sometimes he'll relate to something he's experienced himself. He's entertaining and informative and I wish other commentators would learn from him! Go Filip!

I can understand why his commentating is so pleasant then, pity he doesn't speak any Greek to commentate for Greek channels when Mr.Kostalas decides to retire/ dies (he's about 70 already and still commentating, one can't help but get anxious about his next word if he doesn't speak for a while when commentating, I mean, at this age, you never know... ) Sofia Alexandra, why don't you just break into the Swedish Eurosport studios while he's commentating and meet him?? Oh, and remember to get an autograph for me too, will you? ;D (Just don't say it was my idea...)

Here on Russian Sport chanel we have two quite old men, and it's a real torment to listen to them if you are a fan of someone except Plushy. This time I was very surprised as they broadcasted both swedish boys, but comments almost spoil my happiness of watching Kris live. But it was very funny moment on his free program. While he was skating they couldnt stop of counting his mistakes and talking about what a bad music and choreography he's got, but in the end they discovered that choreography was by Igor Bobrin. For a few moments there was perfect silance in the air, but then they've found a way out by telling that it was really hard for Bobrin to work with swedish boy who's not predisposing to be very artistic (and that's why Igor works with him for three years already ;D ). I was laughing very loud))))))

Thank goodness for them then that Filip wasn't there... Imagine their shock after all their nasty comments when they'd realize he's actually been working with MISHIN!!! Hehehe, scornful and chauvinistic people are such a delight to watch and listen to -- and, believe me, here in Greece we've got LOADS of such people!!!

well, i think, that russian commentators in sport Channel did not like neither adrian nor kris.

Which non-Russian did they like?
It's really funny though, cause our commentator here actually seems to favour Russians exclusively... Some of them really are the best, but hearing such great words for Volchkova's and Dobrin's recent performances and hearing criticism for non-Russian skaters that actually did a lot better than them (according to the judges) isn't always the most pleasant thing to hear!
