Will he still make final? According to my calculation he has a chance for the final, if CoR ends with Weir, Lambiel, Buttle or Weir, Buttle, Lambiel and second place at NHK behind Takahashi is Carriere or Davydov with less points total from competitions than Kevin or someone with less than 9 points from a GP before. At NHK noone competes with 13 or 11 points from a GP before. Than his ranking of GP should be six place.

Actually there is a very detailed description of his chances to make finals listed on kevins news page of the site, much easier to follow for me the way its all wrote out on there. It goes step by step, which for the newer ones like me is much appreciated Here is a quick link for ya'll www.kevinvdperren.com/pages/news.htm

From the ISU GP 2008 Announcement (page 6): 4.4 Ties If there is a tie by added points, the following criteria will be taken into consideration for tie-breaking: a) the best place obtained in the two designated events will count for the better place/ranking; If there is still a tie, b) the higher total of the added total scores obtained in the designated events will count for the better place/ranking

I changed the placements immediately, sorry about that. As for the tie-rule, I am aware of that, but it goes a bit far to put that in the news when it's all theoretically, so wanted to just cross that bridge when we got there. But indeed if Steven of Sergei make the #2 placement, they will look at the other criteria....(or the other guys I mentioned, for that matter)

Like I said above, I dont count in the tie rule on the news. If Buttle & Lambiel get #3 at CoR they will have the same amount of points and thus tie with Kevin, as 15+7 makes 22. Only when a tie in points is reached the tie rule like explained in 4.4 a will get taken into consideration, and thus I will address it only then in the news. Remember, I didn't state there that they will be placed above Kevin, just that they will have collected more points or tie (in points) with him:
that at this moment there are 6 guys that still have assigned competitions and could potentially collect more points -or tie- with Kevin.
ETA: It's easier to explain things in steps, not all at once, that's all. And there is no need to explain things, if they will only potentially happen.

Ok, but it's a bit confusing: if Takahasi or Weir have 22 points, they are ranking in front of Kevin, if Lambiel or Buttle have 22 points, they are ranking behind Kevin and if Carriere or Davydov have 22 points, the tie of competitionspoints is deciding.

Yes, so that is why I will only mention that when necessary. Don't want to confuse people when not needed.
