Well, I live in Vancouver. No tix for the Dance so far (might have a last minute decision and spend all my savings on it!! ) i have tix for 2 practices sessions: Men/Pairs on 13Feb and Dance/Ladies on 20th. Will report anything i spot! That's great news! I hope you have a great time and I will be looking forward to your reports! I personally couldn't visit the practice sessions without going to the actual competition. It would be too much of a tease! I'd therefore encourage you to blow all your savings on competition tickets (but that would also be a little irresponsible of me.. ;D)

I know where I'll be on the 16th!! :-)

Yes, I plan to be a bad (?) influence on you and tell you to spring for the tix. I was lucky--there were a lot of red mittens in stock when I was up in Kitchener for Skate Canada!! I've been wearing them constantly ever since. They're so warm!!

I was watching some old VHS tapes over the weekend of the Turin Olympics. I still love J&S free dance. Really loved the OD of Navka & Kostamarov (really miss them). But watching Belbin & Agosto I saw that they have not really improved since then. I'm planning on watching some old tapes of the Salt Lake City Olympics over the next few days. I really loved those Olympics & thanks to the Vancouver/UK time differance it looks like Iwill be staying up all night like I did in 2002. But I've moved house since then so hopefully I won't have to put up with my neighbours playing loud music all through the night !. Does anyone else have favourite Olympic figure skating memories?.I would love to hear them

Cool post, Maz.
At the time of the last Omypics, I wasn't yet interested in figure skating so I didn't really watch. I'm also a bit young (20) to have memories of other Olympics.
Obviously, looking back T&D in 1984 was one of the most magical moments, and their return in 1994 one of the most heartbreaking.
I wish the Olympics were in Europe again this year - going to be a lots of very late nights with it in Canada!

I actually have a good time frame to watch the Olympics--they're in the evening for me! I just hope the networks show it and that I'm able to watch them because I'll actually be at competition at the same time as some of it and when I'm not there, I'm either working or in class. *sigh* HOWEVER, when I can watch, at least they're showing it live. West coast--same time zone as the Olympics, have to wait!!
Gosh, that's a hard one.. well, I don't remember watching the 88 Olympics, but my mom asked me who I wanted to win beforehand and I decided on Katarina and Brian B. I vaguely remember watching Kristi Yamaguchi in 92 and Paul Wylie and loved that Katarina was commentating. 94 is when my interest really took a foothold. I was head over heels for all of it and remember Oksana and Katarina most.. but also Nancy's incredible comeback.. I was completely mesmerized and couldn't get enough. I watched my tapes over and over again! 98 I loved Tara and Michelle.. 02 I loved Jamie & David.. 06 I loved the motto and everything about the competition.. I watched the last flight of the ladies competition in the Olympic Spirit store in Lake Placid! We were lucky we didn't get kicked out, lol. I've really enjoyed watching all sports and coverage of morning shows and all that stuff. This year I have school work to worry about again so I don't think I'll be able to watch as much.

I SO agree with you over Tara V Michelle (Poor Kwan, to skate that well & not win), the only plus side to her not getting the Gold was that she stayed around several years more. Also Jamie & David's win (or tie) in 2002 was so amazing. I remember staying up until 2 in the morning screaming at the TV in horror that the judges placed them 2nd !. I'm 31, so I've seen a few Olympics (1992, Albertville my first), but does anyone remember Grischuk & Platov winning their 2nd gold in Nagano?. I was one of the few people who really liked that couple !. I think it's sad that no one stays around now after they win their Olympic gold. Plushenko's been gone since 2006, now he's back I can't help feeling sorry for the others like Joubert & Weir who have been working hard in the Grand prix event's & other major Championships since then. Does anyone else think that's it's unfair?. Oh, well. Maybe I'm getting old !

The Feeling Begins?!. I loved that !. Also the Tango OD they did. Did you like their Olympic free skate in 1998?. Memorial Requiem. I know it was slated by a lot of people (Platov spending most of the skate on two feet), but I loved it. I often credit them with the difficult rules we have today. They were one of the first to include spins & twizzles in their routines. She was one of the best ice dancers I ever saw. I finally found a fellow Grischuk & Platov fan. YES !

Maz1,Guess if I thought it was a great idea for S&J to train with Evgenys team???!! The Memorial Requiem is a killer FD!!! The problem for me was that I was soooo nervous when they were going to skate in the Olys, that I didn´t dare to watch it!!!!! .....I have seen it a thousand times after that though, and it is AMAAAAZING!
