Thanks for opening the new December thread, nike2010. I guess somebody advertised about this article already after Olys in 2006. Given to this, it might be that you can find in a way earlier "Photo and Article" thread a translation of this article available. Sorry, that I can't provide you more help. But as I can read a bit french, there is in general no need for me to save translations of french articles for myself.

I tried the google translate fucntion, well not bad, still I want to understand the exact meaning and the atmosphere. Could anybody help me, please:)? www.tdg.ch/actu/divers/stephane-lambiel-2008-12-09 unfortunately I don't have time to translate the entire article but here are some ideas: Stephane was invited by Genève-Servette to launch the game (the ice hokey game I think) against Davos and he gladly accepted it. Stephane became a little bit nostalgic finding himself again in the surroundings of Vernet ice rink. Stephane visited the locker rooms of his begining career where he found more intimacy . He stood there like in the old times when he wasn't yet world or olympic champion. the writer also says before when Stephane was in competition and had a tight schedule it was hard to get to him, but now Stephane kindly accepted him to accompany him to the locker room. After gaving some interviews, they stood together in a lodge from where Stephane was watching the game. He confessed that it's crazy how fast the ice is destroyed by the hokey players and that in those circumstances, there (I think he reffers to the lodge) he was feeling a little bit alone. (Actually it's like that how they begun talking and after they visited the locker rooms) I'm sorry for the quality of the translation. I hope you understand. If you want I can do it better but in weeknd.... and WELCOME ON BOARD, Jess

dissim, How kind of you! Thank you! Recently, I'm writing about his programs and him (in Korean). I think this article catched his mood very well after the retirement last year and helpful to write- Thanks to you, I can use it now:)
If you're okay, could you translate the article later when you have a time? Because I want to keep this article in a language that I can understand. (No hurries) If you dont' have a enought time, you don't have to, of course. You already helped me a lot:) Again, special thanks to you! Have a great day:)

Thank you faelkchen! There is fantastic pic TRANSLATION"I cannot give everything any more" Lambiel radiates inner strength - despite the fragile physique The Swiss figure skater Stéphane Lambiel has thrown himself into the Olympic adventure, even when his body is showing the limits. With charisma and good timing, it could go well. Even if he says: "On the ice, I simply must go through the pain and try to forget it."
Reports from the training of an Olympic-favorite should sound different. "I'm sorry that I cannot bring better news,“ says Peter Grütter after one hour early morning training, coach, who works with this exceptional talent from Valais already 15 years, sounds concern. "We must work very carefully and always look, which just goes," he says. The body of 24-year-old figure skater, the 2005 and 2006 world champion, allows now no more power training. The pain caused by adductor injury, what forced him to withdraw a year ago is now „under the control“, said he by the comeback in the late summer. But who has whom in the handle, it can not be so easy to decide - Lambiel the pain or the pain Lambiel? I approach with insecure feeling Basel for a meeting with him. He will attend there a photoshoot on the Rhine with ex-Playmate Christina Surer, the moderator of Eisgala Basel. It’s gonna be his only show appearance before the Olympics. Does someone and his fans build a pipe dream, far from the reality of competitive sport? Overflowing praise But then I sit opposite a young man, who has no illusions and yet radiates inner strength. "Before the last Olympics, I knew no boundaries. Now the situation is quite different: I cannot give everything any more,“ he says. In any training, he had to listen to your body and he needs to know it’s limits. He declares with surprise, that he practically cannot practice his parade element, spin any more. And yet, "Lambiel combined spin was the best, the craziest and the most beautiful that I get to see in my whole 65-year-old figure skating experience," wrote Sepp Schönmetzler, expert in his field after the Olympic qualifying competition in late September in Oberstdorf. Lambiel's first appearance after his impressive comeback proved for what he is capable in a decisive moment. "If the elements are mastered with that kind accomplishment, as he does, you don’t need to work them out again and again,“ says Salomé Brunner. The choreographer is the most important partner for Lambiel, when you need to speak about development of his programs. She feels with every fiber his fragility. Everything now depends on timing. He cannot show top performance during the whole season. But on 16th and 18th of February, on the days of short program and free skating in Vancouver, everything must fit in. In Canada Lambiel spent just four weeks, but not in the Olympic city, but in Toronto. Originally, it was said, that he was there for trainings. But practically he didn’t spend almost no time on the ice. The physiotherapist Marla Pichler has worked intensive with him and with his body. Anyway is he since then not pain-free. "On the ice, I must simply go through the pain and try to forget it. If you want it, it can be possible," he says. You can’t see here any more fiery daredevil of his early days, when he angrily practiced again and again quads on the ice. Today, he has to calculate the risk and build his programs very carefully and strategically. But in Toronto he was not only laid up, but got also inspiration. He was inspired by rehearsals and performances of ballet, opera and shows. „I feel myself very associated with those actors who also go through great sacrifice," he says. He could do the same on the ice. His "Tell" short program is already something special. With this has Lambiel also proven to be one of the greatest artists of his sport. But his long program – Tango falls short of this class. After swiss championships on 11/12th December in Lugano and before European Championships he could do something with it. We can only wonder whether it is Tchaikovsky or something from "Cirque du Soleil". Orser’s training group In spite of his ice-absence, for the sensitive ice-artist was important to be integrated in the training group of Brian Orser in Cricket Club of Toronto. There trains also Korean Yu-Na Kim, the favorite among the women. But he should perhaps not take Brian Orser too much of a role model. The Canadian was taken again to 1988 Olympic Games, having won silver medal four years earlier. But Orser lost the legendary "Battle of the Brians" very close to the american Brian Boitano and it was really painful loss for him. It does not scare Lambiel. "It's so exciting to experience this adventure again. If it works, it's a wonderful satisfaction. If not, it was still important and a right thing to try it. "

Oh- Stephane said "I can't give everything" Chronic adductor injuries, knee injuries.. Too much for 24-year-old youngman. I love Figure skating but this discipline puches too many talented skaters into injuries. I wish him to stay healthy. Thank you for posting, faelkchen.

Thank you for the link, faelkchen. This article made me sad... Me too, almost instantly. I like the articles of Ruth Spitzenpfeil, they are always thoughtful and sensitive. I hope he pushes himself not to hard.

It looks Stephane's injuries are not better but it was to be expected. Not much new there. I hope he's reasonable enough to stop if it is too much. But, of course, I wish he could skate in Vancouver. And what nonsense about Brian Orser as a role model. Any Olympic medal is a huge accomplishement for a skater. Especially, when they are past their physical prime. This journalist ususally gets on my nerve with her overdramatic tones. Stephane is more realistic with all this. Wish him a lot of luck and determination.
