it definitley has Stephane's signature written all over it. but i actually really like that fact that a part of Stephane also come through in the program. i think out of all the competitive skaters out there right now, Daisuke is the perfect one to skate a program like this. the music is very beautiful and the program is also beautiful and elegant and interesting to follow from the very beginning to the very end. exactly what you would expect from Stephane's and Daisuke's collaboration. i love it. and it'll probably get even better with time cause now Diasuke has time to work on making it completely his own. and Stephane will have a great career as a choreographer, now i'm sure of it

Thanks. So cute! And he understands that with slow movements, you really need to be into the music because it shows sooner when you're not. I think he understands what it takes to really interpret the music instead of just skate to the music. He'll grow, I'm sure. PS:[b reut[/b], I tried to find my way on the board you get these posts from, but I quit. Use my energy to get acquainted here. So thanks if you keep updating us about translations and interesting points of view elsewhere Salut, Annelfie, hevaing a great day!

What a great collaboration but I didn't expect how sad this program would make me feel. It's so much from Stéphane in it and I love the music and I wish he would have skated it himself. Can there please be an exchange of programs for just one show and Daisuke skates LTGTR? I know I better get used to the feeling. Now I'm really curious to see Denis Ten.

Wow- what a lovely program! Thanks so much for the link! Yes, it's very Stéphanesque - and the trouble with that, is that now I really want to see Stéphane skate this program! I think it's hard for somebody with such a distinctive skating style as Stéphane's not to live his imprint on his work - there are many dance choreographers like that too (Bob Fosse is the one who springs immediately to my mind). But often they weren't really performers to begin with or they aren't really performing any more when they choreograph for other people. So it's hard to get the image of Stéphane skating this out of my head. As wonderful as Daisuke is (and frankly, his jumps are much better than Stéphane's at this point), Stéphane is still going to be the best interpretor of his own work - for the moment, at least! But - this is Stéphane's first attempt - and Daisuke's first performance of it - so I agree that it needs time to for Daisuke to grow into it and make it his own - it's so expressive and lovely the potential is there. Did anybody else get the feeling though that maybe some choreography was left out? Parts where Daisuke was gliding around a bit?

You wrote exactly what I feel. I always wanted Stéphane to skate to Amélie or Peer Gynt and now I see his movements and his style to this music on the ice but not him. That makes me sad, although I'm glad for him that he enjoys it and that he has so talented students. Oh well...

Can there please be an exchange of programs for just one show and Daisuke skates LTGTR? I know what you mean - the Amelie program is so introspective and personal. I think the LTGTR program would have been hard to learn in a week though - there is a lot of choreography going on there!

Did anybody else get the feeling though that maybe some choreography was left out? Parts where Daisuke was gliding around a bit? Yes. I know what people are saying. Myself I really love the music and it's one of my favorite films, plus Stephane really looks like Amelie's little brother (the smile) so it adds something to nostalgic feeling. Maybe it would be different with other program. Other thing it's very unusual for top skater at 25 to do a program to fellow competitor, so comparisons and similarities are inevitable. Most choreographers are not top skaters or even skaters at all. I can't imagine how David Wilson would skate his program but they certainly have very distinct style. In the end it's all up to the skater to express his individuality which would include changes, improvisation, development. Only the most talented can achieve this but it's always interesting to watch it. I don't know about Stephane's future as choreographer, we have to wait yet for results. What he can really help skaters with is skating skills, spins, footwork and presentation.

I had the same feeling. And this competition would be won by Stephane for sure! His amplitude, so tosay, is much larger, to my mind. Reut, my belated thanks for creating such a necessary thread and for the recent link with translation of Dai's words. It's felt he knows what has to be done to make this Ex look extraordinary Elanor, when you mentioned something alike in 'Amelie' and Stephane's appearance, it struck me that people quite often compare him with their favorite persons both from the screen and real life - and yet he remains unique and uncomparable! Very much depends on Daisuke now: to feel every movement's message, to find his own nuances... I do hope he'll succeed! As for Stephane - he's got a brilliant road in front of him, and the beginning looks very promising.

In the middle of the program when the fabulous footwork was on full swing, I almost saw stephane up there, leaning on the board while watching Daisuke, a big, proud smile on his face. ...I just don't know why this mental picture made me want to cry.

I think this collaboration is very special, because to me, Daisuke is the only current single male skater (other than Stéphane) who has this extraordinary ability to express music with his whole body. Both skaters use their heads a lot which I love (check out the little head flick at around 1.38mins). And I think because Stef and Dai's skating is quite similar in many ways, the program came out the way it did. It may look like it's all Stephane but I think it really carries Dai's individuality as well. I very much doubt that a program for Denis will look anything like this, I expect it to be quite different - even if you recognize the choreographer's handwriting.

Girls, I have cried, cried, cried. I won't be here for two days and have no time at the moment. I only want to say I feel with you all. And what helps me: thinking about the future is so wonderful - because we will have our Stéphane on the ice for ages up to now - through his work as a choreographer. Bye! Don't cry too much!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing Dai's new program for us to see so soon!
Only one word: Spectacular!
I enjoyed it immensely even if it may need some polishing, just imagine how it will be when it has matured a bit! I love how Daisuke too uses his entire body to interpret the music and yes, I did notice that flick of the head. And as so many of you had said, at times I almost saw Stéphane skating it, it had so many of "his" movements, which is not a bad thing.
Bravo, Stéphane! Bravo, Daisuke-san!

Great program! Stephane put much of himself into it. I too wish he skated this program himself despite I always thought that Amelie is music for girls . It's an unusual character for Dai, so I think for the first time he did amazing. Of course he still has some work to do to make Stephane's movements "his" movements but I already absolutely love him in this program. Stephane is a good teacher. Bravo! And I am exited about Denis Ten's SP - I never really liked him, I saw in him some artistic potential, but nothing really special, so maybe Stephane's choreography will completely change my attitude I agree with elanor: mostly choreographers weren't well known skaters in the past, so mostly people only get familiar with their style through their choreographic work with other skaters, so no comparisons influence the impression. In Stephane's case everyone can and will compare and recognize Stephane's style in the programs of other skaters he will create. It's OK. The most important thing is that what Stephane creates is beautiful. no matter whatever or whoever is might look like.
