Oh thank you so much pianomaya for finding and posting that video of Shizuka. I know it doesn't really belong in this thread, but that was one of my favourite performances of the whole show!

Ok here goes: melisande71 won two tickets for the Tuesday nigh show, but she learned she won those two tickets only on Monday and couldn't find a friend or family member that could make it on such short notice so she kindly offered to share the tickets with a member of the forum. I was the first to tell her I'd gladly come (I live in Lausanne, so it required no organization at all on my part) and we decided to met at the train station. Since we'd never met before, and had a little bit of time before the show, we went to Starbucks and talked a bit about our lives and skating (mostly about skating, must admit). We then went to the rink, we were supposed to meet someone from the Montreux Swiss Hotel (aka Royal Plaza) who'd give us the tickets, but we looked around for a while and couldn't figure out who (or, in fact, where) we were supposed to meet. So we called (thankfully they'd given melisande71 a cell phone number), and they told us they were stuck in traffic! ;D They said they thought they would make it in time for the show, so we just hung around and waited. In the end, we did get our tickets before the show started, so all was well. The seats weren't the best out there, but we got to enjoy the show, when both melisande71 and I had completely given up hope of seeing it this year. During the ice resurfacing we went to one of the VIP rooms, as we had some kind of bracelet that gave us that right. We picked up the programs, which melisande71 quickly started going through in search of typos . After the show, we went to the train station to catch a train to Montreux because melisande71 had actually won a room at the Montreux Swiss Hotel and the right to go to the afterparty . So we went to the hotel (after a few misadventures, such as going the wrong way for a while ), got our room and went down to the bar. There we chatted a little while while the skaters enjoyed a late (very!) dinner in the room next door. Then a few skaters (and staff members in fact) started showing up at the bar, but no Stéphane. So I bet with melisande71 that he wouldn't come (a piece of advice: NEVER bet with her, it seems she always wins) and, obviously, he showed up a few short minutes later. We got closer, but he was goofing off with other skaters, taking pictures, etc. and we didn't really want to intrude so we kept our distances. Then he started talking with Salome Brunner and Majda Scharl and we figured that if we ever wanted a chance to talk to him we had to get closer. Salome noticed us (or maybe just my camera) and pointed us out to him, but we really didn't want to intrude and just stood back, chatting with each other, as he turned around. Since we didn't come forward, he got back to his talk. In the end, melisande71 decided to interrupt him briefly to take a picture, to which he graciously agreed, I took the picture and showed it to melisande71, in case she wanted me to retake it, and Stéphane alos looked and said "Oh my God, I look so short on that picture!", which led to a brief exchange. Then melisande71 asked him to sign her program, which he did, and he got to take up his conversation with Salome and Majda where he'd left it. melisande71 and I stayed up til 4:30 chatting, watching Stéphane's amusing mimics and just thoroughly enjoying this absolutely magical moment. When we left to go to bed, Stéphane was still at the bar ;D. The next morning (or rather, a little bit later that morning ^^) we got up pretty early (considering the time we went to bed), enjoyed the incredible view from our balcony, and went down to breakfast. We saw quite a few staff members but no Stéphane (^^). It was magical, a moment out of time, and now we are only just beginning to return to reality. I really feel like it was all a dream, I guess melisande71 feels the same. It was incredible, I think there are no words to describe how we felt. There, you all know everything about our little trip to Art on Ice 2011!

Thank you for sharing this story with us. I am so happy for you that you had the possibility to take pics and talk to him. Sometimes I can't believe that the glamorous man of AOI show is really the same natural person that I met in Basel in December, didn't you think the same in Montreux? I hope you will have an unforgettable memory forever. And yes, returning to reality sucks... :-)

Here is one more vid: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-PsKeVx0kcActually, I fell in love with that performance as well as Tatiana and Max Trankov, their skating is glorious and gave me chills. And this cheese pop operatic music, in fact, works well for them bringing their best qualities. So beautiful and powerful. I really hope that Swiss TV will show all the skaters and won't ruin their performances completelly. Sorry for OT, I need to gush over other skaters than Stephane sometimes too.

I find it sooo hard to get back to reality too... My trip to Zurich even exceeded my expectations (and believe me they were not low ) kallianna, I can totally understand you - being at the after party, is like being in a dream) I was asking myself few times like "omg is this really happening?' lol Just a random quote: "If you stay long enough, Stephane will probably sing. He usually does it. I - NEVER!" (c) John Kerr
