So sad that the Worlds have been postponed & now almost cancelled. There is no way it could have been held in Japan at this time or in the near future. Yet it could be moved to another county. Remember in 2000 when Nice stepped in to host after Australia could not hold the Worlds?. I know this is an awful time for the Japanese people & my heart goes out to them. But major sporting events continue through such times. With so many rinks across the world it would not have been that hard to wait a few weeks and hold it in another place. Also, if it is not held in the next month many skaters would not be able to compete at a later date, with tours & shows that they have signed contracts for. It's a REALLY difficult situation.

It would be amazing if another country could step up. I can imagine it'd be difficult for all the athletes who have trained to peak at this very time if it is postponed, but even more difficult if the opportunity is dashed for certain skaters who have risen up and deserve their chance. I definitely think Japan is not the appropriate location with all that they have to overcome.. not yet anyway.

Scotland could step in, but I do't think Murrayfield is quite up to it. Switzerland could surely step in.

I've just heard that the World's will NOT be held in Japan this year & the ISU will have another venue by the end of the week. Maybe Moscow or in America, also Helsinki are interested. They may be held as late as mid May. So I wonder who will show up to compete?. Does anyone have any info on John & Sinead?. Will they go?. Many stars are already commited to other events such as shows & tours at that time. I think the in-form skaters will do well to carry that form so late on. This may be a very strange World Championships. Also, will the skaters from Japan compete?.

All good questions! I'm curious myself what will happen and I think you're right--no matter what, it will be interesting. I know the skaters need to obtain visas and that takes some time and could determine where/who can go.. I am also curious when most of the skaters are committed to shows and how many would be affected dependent on when, or possibly even where, the shows took place.

Just a quick update to let you know that Moscow will hold the World Championships from April 25th to May 1st. I hope TV can fit it in their schedule. Does anyone know if John & Sinead will compete?. I'm happy Moscow got it as I think the end of May would have been to late.
