Topic swayed off topic a bit, so we decided to move that discussion to a seperate thread:absoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Stphane&action=display&thread=4729related to last post in this thread, Reut updated: Stéphane Lambiel:"Thanks all for your support and love" We were just informed that Stéphane has got out of the hospital. He is under medication and is required to rest. Meanwhile, Stéphane is waiting for the complete results of all the examinations. We are sorry that Stéphane has to miss this year's Art on Ice shows in Shanghai. Stéphane asked us to thank all his fans for their support and love. We hope that Stéphane will get recovered soon and look forward seeing him in Shanghai next year. And message from Stéphane on his official Facebook: I am sorry to announce that I will miss this year's edition of Art on Ice Shanghai. I underwent a series of medical tests this week which led to the identification of a minor vascular problem in an eye. With a few weeks of rest, I should be able to keep the rest of my schedule unchanged. I sincerely apologize to the audience of the shows in Shanghai, and hope to meet them again next year. Thank you all for your support.

[ How serious is this vascular eye problem? I think only doctor who does his treatment can tell. Eyes problems are complicated, might be minor or serious, but it's not something to neglect. Stephane needs to be coutious with physical effort, changes of tempereture and light, control his blood pressure. It's a signal to slow down a bit. Lot's of travel is also physically very draining, very bad for eyes and blood pressure. It might seem there is no stress without competition now, but it's really not so easy. Being a show performer is also very demanding, physically and emotionally highly intense life, ther is discipline to keep, no off-season to rest, stress of the performance, fans who get dissapointed if he doesn't take 500 photos etc. Plus, all other projects in between. I hope he is reasonable with his health and doesn't take up too much.

Sad to hear that - specially for all those who looked forward to watch Stéphane live skating in Japan. Get well soon, Stéphane!

It worries me. It is not a minor problem like they said before but serious health issues. I don't care about competitions but I will miss Stephane's skating. It is such a wonderful gift. Without it the world is a bit more sad place. Maybe he can come back to the ice with some rest.

I am worried too, but still hope for him that it is not a too severe health problem. He has to rest, so can not practice. And he won't go to a show without having trained enough before. All the good wishes to you, Stephane!!!

Without it the world is a bit more sad place. Maybe he can come back to the ice with some rest. Don't worry so much. It's not so surprising that Stephane won't take part in 'Dreams on Ice'. Before, it was said that he needed a few weeks rest, but it was only a few weeks until 'Dreams on Ice' itself. So, Stephane would have had to start training sooner than it is good for him. Also, the message on the 'Dreams on Ice' site apparently says that currently doctors have prohibited Stephane from making any long trips and flights (especially the pressure changes connected with flights can be bad with this problem), but that he should be completely allright after several weeks rest. So, don't worry prematurely.

So, don't worry prematurely. I hope you are right. Maybe I exagerated a bit because I always worry about Stephane's health and he talks about it so often (you don't even think about it as long as you are healthy) and he is so young. Plus, I'm oversensitive to hypertension blood diseases in my family but it is not that bad in every case, of course. I just love Stephane's skating and think it is such a unique, beautiful talent I hoped he can perform for a few years longer. I keep faith he will get better soon.

He always makes me smile with his skating, so I hope to return the favor with this performance. Stéphane, this one's for you!" Tommy Steenberg.
