well, I was at TEB so let me write down some impressions
pre-competition:
* on friday we sneaked into practice. They had invited schoolkids in to see the practice, they were coming in
large groups. So, we were smart, mixed ourselves among them and shuffled inside the icerink. Best thing was the
sekurity guy's face when we went back out:
"where is your accreditation???"
" we don't have"
"but that's not possiiiiible
"
"well, still we were inside"
"but it's closed to the audience, where did you get inside!?!?!"
"oh, just somewhere there
"
* was good to be at practice though, had plenty of time to hang my 59483398 banners for Tomas and we secured
ourselves some nice spots on the first/second/third row. Better known now as the Czech VIP corner.
* Brian came out in the stands during practice. Immediately you hear lots of kids say his name and 2 seconds
later he was swarmed by all of them. He signed a couple of autographs and then ran for his life. It was a funny
sight.
* I was pretty satisfied with how the rink looked in the end. My mission was completed as Tomas again had more
banners than everyone else. "Thank you for making the icerink mine again" was his comment about it, and that he
also counts them, glad I am not the only one. He also wishes for all of them to be in Vancouver... since I
cannot hang them there, anyone here care to help wave them? I cannot duplicate myself 6 times.... email me.
* I fought with sekurity a lot. Either because I wanted my banners in a certain place where I wasn't allowed to
go, because they took them down and I wanted to retrieve them, or mostly because I never wanted to sit in my own
seat. It often happens to me at competitions
Usually I manage to sneak to other places but it also always
involves some troubles. You know, I just like to sit and speak to all my friends whom always seem to be
scattered everywhere around the icerink
short programs competitions:
Men:
* totally fell in love with Adam Rippon whee! I wanted to pinch his cheeks
He's most adorable and his skating
is very smooth. Didn't really get him before, but I get him now. very enjoyable!
* Tomassss! jumps were fabulous! footwork can be much better. He was a bit slow actually. Screamed really loud
so he maybe would move a bit faster but to no avail. Expect it to be much better when the steps get more
automatik to him
* Brian, it was a littlebit of a WTF moment. Still have to laugh every time when he starts out his program.
Sorry but it's just hilarious to me. I was sorry for him the jumps didn't really work out that well, but agree
with Tomas. He could be so dangerous now, because he will be looking for revenge.
* Nobu, he has great skating skills but this SP didn't really do so much for me. I didn't really find it so
original and uhm, well I found it kind of lame. Such a pity because he's a really good skater and has a large
adorable factor going for him.
Ice-dance:
* Uhmmm I think my reviews of the other 3 disciplines will be much shorter
Really enjoyed all top 4 ice-dance pairs. The Kerrs were so funny from the beginning till the end, such joy to
watch. V/M's OD is to die for. P/B were a lot of fun too with their cowboy thing. I had to laugh though when all
the ice-dance teams came out and there were like 3 of them wearing cowboy hats.
Ladies:
*yu-na kim is da bomb! she lands her jumps like well, I think she can do that while she sleeps..I drool over her triple-triples
* felt sorry for Carolina. Obviously not her competition. I think I liked her programs but when so much goes
wrong... *sigh*
* Caroline Zhang eeek! that jumpteknik! the lutz/flip/flutz kind of thing she does...I don't even want to clap
for it! Leg through the roof and such a wrong edge, how the f. does she make a triple out of that! However her
spins are very nice!! love when she does some kind of bielmann and puts her head in places where it's impossible
to do so.
* Mao, I enjoy her sooo much but this program sigh, doesn't really do her any justice IMO. It's too heavy for her, I rather see her skate to something light and fun. She's so sparkly, let the sparkle come out, damnit!
Pairs:
* lost concentration, don't really have so much to say about this
to be continued.....
