Whee!! ;D Ok. There is only a small mention about Tom in the articles. The reporter said that Tomas was preparing for Worlds, that the Olys weren´t the last important competition. That he visited hockey matches where the czech played and he as well went to see them at the village. Tomas Verner was planning to enjoy this night and went to the the center of Torino, to visit some clubs, restaurants, galeries and discos!

An after Worlds article sport.idnes.cz/sporty.asp?r=sporty&c=A060324_111315_sporty_maVerner was pleased with the quad in CalgaryA successful combination of a quadruple and triple toeloop, but also a fall during the step sequence was a long program of Tomas Verner in Calgary. In the results his name is on the 13th palce. „The success will be good for my self-confidence. Especially because of the quad I finally had in this season.“ For the first tim ein a competition he did a 4-3 toeloop combination. „I had nothing to lose. I wanted to do the quad in a combination with a triple, because I do it in my practice and it just belongs there.“ explained Tomas Verner. He managed the clean quad, but any of the triple axels in his free program wasn’t successful. „I pushed too much going into that first one, I gave too much energy into that. And in the second half of the program I had less strength, I didn’t rotate it fully and I fell.“ he described the jumps. The impression of his life-skate was also damaged by the fall in the step sequence, when the edge of his skate got stuck. „Then I saw that the fall was unavoidable and I was just thinking how to reassume quickly.“ said the 19year old skater. During another step sequence he was too close to the barrier and he stumbled with his left foot. „I didn’t expect th ebarrier to be so close. It is difficult because everywhere there is a bit different size of the rink. Unlike at the Olympics, where he skated as the first of all, he was now in the second best group. The atmosphere is completely different than at the beggining of the evening. There are much more people in the audience. And judges are also only people, they need to have a system in it, they have the second mark divided according to the warmups.“ he relished the advantageous position. The judges will remember meHe liked the atmosphere in the Calgary’s Saddledome. „The audience didn’t belong to the laics, they were experts, that carried biographies of skaters with them, and really understood it.“ he appreciated the canadian audience. The trainee of Vlasta Koprivova went after the Olympic qualification in October to both Europeans and Olympics, so the World championships was the fourth big competition for him this season. Though, he didn’t feel any extreme tiredness after that. „The most hard were especially two free programs in three days. But I am not completely exhausted, we had a good preparation in summer from which I still profit.“ he said. The successful season is a good impulse for the next year. „The success is good for my self-confidence, especially with the quad now. Now the judges will count on me. They will know I was 13th at the Worlds.“ After a few days of rest he leaves for a couple of performances to Germany and then he starts with his preparation for the next season with peaks at Europeans in Warsaw and Worlds in Tokio. On the top of it he will take part in two of the Grand Prix events. „It is very important, because I will be able to compare my skating with the top also somwhere else than only at Europeans and Worlds.“ he added.

2 grand prix events? (Tomas: Paris and China innit, remember our agreement ) I thought only top 12 could do 2? or am I confused... (the rules have changed recently innit) or someone from top 12 will retire? great article thanks for translating! ETA: answer to my own question: c) Should a seeded skater/couple withdraw from the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, or in the case of retirement or ineligibility of a seeded skater/couple, the next highest placed skater/couple at the most recent World Figure Skating Championships will become a seeded skater/couple. This skater/couple will remain in the originally assigned events. 2.2. Invited Skaters/Couples a) Skaters/couples who have placed 11 – 12 in each of the 4 categories (Men, Ladies, Pairs, Ice Dancing) at the most recent World Championships will be guaranteed to be selected for two ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. b) Skaters/couples placing 13 to 24 (or less than 24, if the number of entries were less) in each of the 4 categories (Men, Ladies, Pairs, Ice Dancing) at the most recent World Figure Skating Championships will be selected for a minimum of one (1) event in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. so only if someone withdraws/retires he will get 2 events. Since Matt Savoie will retire, I guess that means Tomas will get 2 events indeed!!
