Lost In Translation Whatever this film was supposed to be about was lost to me. Anyone seen it? What the heck did he whisper to her at the end? The ending sucked. I am SO glad I didn't go see this at the cinema when it was first out. It was almost as bad (but nothing could possibly be as bad) as Kill Bill = The Crappiest Film Ever Made. ;D

Last movie I saw in the theatre was 'The Village'. Interesting movie, if you like a story with a twist... Books: I'm about to read a book by Johnathan Kellerman, with Alex Delaware as major player. He is a child psychologist involved in solving crimes (shortly said). TV-series: I like lots and lots, too much actually: Star Trek (all series), Stargate, CSI, Gilmore Girls, Crossing Jordan, ER, Charmed, The West Wing are a few I can name at this moment. Joy

I'm reading Watermelon by Marian Keyes. This author never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I got a new book on friday and already finished it. It's called "Pic-nic on Ice" and written by Andrei Krukov. It takes place in Kiev and is about a daydreamer Victor, his penguin Misha and the Russian mafia.... it's quite fun!

Movies I just watched BIRTH - about reincarnation, with Nicole Kidman and Lauren Bacall. A weird, intense film with a twist or a change of plan, rather in the tale. Very strange.

Nobody else seen Birth yet? I'm still watching Strictly Come Dancing on BBC (UK). It will finish soon though. I'm reading The Safe House by Nicci French. I wanted to go & see The Manchurian Candidate at the cinema but not sure when I will fit that in.

Nobody read a book or watched a film lately? I'm reading light, funny stuff: Stephen Clarke's "A Year in the Merde" - a humorous look at life in France through a Brit's eyes. Hilarious. Gotta love the French. India Knight's "My Life on a Plate" - a story about a thirty-something woman and her married life. Very funny, but also reflects real life so sad in places. Now I'm almost finished Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding (the 1st one and I've got the Edge of Reason lined up next.) Films: Watched Wicker Park again - excellent film with yummy Josh Hartnett. Also, The Cutting Edge - totally unbelievable tale about hockey player turned pair skater. Mwhahahahah! Oops forgot about : Out of the Ashes - about Auschwitz written by Gisella Perl--a Hungarian Jew. Quite moving. www.imdb.com/title/tt0311210/

The Aviator I really enjoyed this film but couldn't work out which illness Howard Hughes had - he was portrayed as having a kind of obsessional compulsive disorder but at the same time admitted to having visual hallucinations which would seem to me as though he had a neurotic and a psychotic illness. How unfortunate to have them both. My mum said he was a "recluse". (Her era, sort of.) Anyway I loved Leonardo and Cate & Kate. The end credits said Gwen Stefani was in it too, but I didn't recognise her. Gwen Stefani as seen in the Aviator, playing Jean Harlow. [Click on "The Talent" on that page.] It was a long film, almost 3 hours. I had a numb derriere. Surely LdC will get an award (and/or Martin Scorsese). He was really good in it. I am partial to a bit of Leonardo though. Mmmmmm and Alec Baldwin too. I even had my hand at my mouth, just like a Hollywood actress, when he crashed the plane. The injuries were horrific. It was like watching them happening, for real. Mmmmmm, go and see it if you can. THE AVIATOR

I saw Closer on sat night. It was really good, plus Jude Law looked very nice & Clive Owen! The whole film was basically only the four actors (Jude Law, Clive Owen, Julia Roberts & Natalie Portman), so the credits were extremely short. It was a quirky kind of film, & took me a while to work out what the hell was going on as the time in the film kept changing. I'd recommend that you see it. Not reading any fiction books at the mo, just textbooks for my course Happy the new series of ER has started, as it's my favourite programme. Also I've started watching Holby City again since they had the special on at Christmas even if it's so unrealistic. I like watching Trauma on BBC1 even if it's not a new series as I'd like to be a trauma specialist. Desparate Housewives, is anybody else watching this? what do you think? Becca
