From: members.aol.com/loisy/cousins/"Robin is delighted to announce that he has been invited by TOROC to be involved in the creation and choreography of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2006 Winter Olympics to be held in Torino, Italy." Does that mean we can expect a lot of figure skating like in Salt Lake City? I sure hope so!

Robin Cousins was a competitive British skater. He won Olympic Gold in 1980 (singles, free). He did HUGE amounts for british skating (along with Torvill & Dean) especially in the Men's Department. He does a lot of choreo and training/coaching over the years, aswell as lots of shows. His nephew will hopefully one day be British Champion. I was 12 when he won the gold and I stayed up to watch on TV - half way through the night. He was my idol.

I was 12 when he won the gold and I stayed up to watch on TV - half way through the night. Me too!!!!!!!![though I was ever so slightly older] He turned Pro at 21, so had a looong and very successful career as a Pro Skater. IMHO they were the best years of his skating. He has also performed in Musicals and Pantomimes on the stage, including The Rocky Horror Show I would aslo include John Curry in your list of Great British Skating Icons: John Curry 1976 Olympic Men's Champion, Robin Cousins 1980 and Torvill & Dean 1984 Olympic Champions Ice DanceAll three not only made a mark in what was then *Amateur* Skating, but had great, and lasting careers as Professional skaters. BTW Rhiannon is a Welsh name, next door to Bristol where Robin Cousins is from.

BTW Rhiannon is a Welsh name, next door to Bristol where Robin Cousins is from. I knew it was welsh and it's celtic. It's means witch and for the celts she was the goddes of the moon and dawn. So Robin is from Britol, does he still live there?

No, he's moved to Brighton, in Sussex on the South Coast of England, not too far from Jayne Torvill.

doesn't he choreograph Holiday on Ice? Hello all, I'm new here and have been browsing and enjoying the posts. Anyway, just wanted to say, yes, Robin Cousins does choreograph Holiday on Ice. I don't know if he does any of the international ones but he definitely does the British one and I'm really really looking forward to seeing it next month in Brighton!!
