Whatever you do, DO NOT VOTE FOR THE SWEDISH SONG EVEN IF YOU MIGHT LIKE IT!!! "Las Vegas" by Martin Stenmarck wasn't elected in a democratic way. In th final, the people wanted "Håll Om Mig" by Nanne Grönvall (which is a really GREAT song!) to win and Martin to have the second place, but the friggin' jurys had given "Las Vegas" a big lead already, so there was nothing that could be done. He won three points ahead of Nanne...

No, this is much bigger, and much older, kinda like the European Championships of songwriting/music. First the countries of Europe have national song contests, where one song (which is max 3 minutes long) is to be chosen. The song can be in whatever language the artist/songwriter choses, though it's quite common to do a "mother tongue" version in the nationals and an English version in La Grande Finale. The artist/s that wins their national competitions get to go to the European final, where songs from all over Europe are competing against eachother, and this is the best part. It's really funny to watch all the different artists, what they're wearing and how good/bad they are... And when all countries have presented their combatants, the voting begins. You can vote for all countries except your own, and then the votes are transferred into a "code of points". Each country gives points from 1 to 12, and in the end the country that's got the highest points wins. If two countries get the same amount of points it's the country that's been given most twelves that wins. The winning land get's to host the final the next year, and last year Ruslana from Ukraine won with her song "Wild Dances", and thus this year's final's held in Kiev.
*looks at what she's written* Man, I'm a Eurovisional nerd...!

yup Sofia, for some reason a lot of us are You forgot to mention that every year there are numerous little scandals, which makes the entire thing a lot more funny! And oh yeah, don't take the whole bunch too seriously, it is not about the best song (anymore) but about the act (notice that I don't say BEST act )! And we all just have fun! Hey Frans, should Glennis wear her hair frizzled or err...unfrizzled? And good you started this thread, cos its really time to

You can watch the videos at the link above - I guess you just have to navigate a bit and you can find em - I've been watching them since I found em - I have yet to make a true determination of who I like the best, though...but I like listening to foreign music, so this is all very interesting me. I have a habit of listening to random international songs that my friends wonder as to why I listen to them when I don't understand them. Haha.
...does Italy not have an entry??
