Will try to translate it: [glow=red,2,300]<<The quad? I'll start learning it..>> [/glow]Figure skating: the "Berner" (he comes from the capital of Switzerland, Bern) is chasing a sesame for the OlympicsLast summer, his right ankle, with which he has had loads of troubles, was finally operated. <<I lost 4 monthes in my preparation>> said Jamal, at last in peace with his ankle and who, he the long-limbed elegant (man) with a fluid skating, fly again on the ice, like an albatross. In his register, two jumps are missing: the triple axel and the quad. <<I've already succeeded the first, he confesses, but, due to lack of time, I haven't been able to work on it. The second one? I've already attempted it, but I've never trained it. I'll start learning it...>>, he promisses, conscient that you need to have them on the ice, if you wanna progress in the hierarchy. Let's talk about it (the hierarchy). One year ago, Jamal finished 11th at Europeans in Torino - what a success in the opinion of the audience! - and 21th, a lil bit later at Worlds in Moscow. <<People like me, what I'm doing. And they look at me cause I'm tall ;D (186cm)>>, he says laughing. This season his SP (the same as last season) consists of 3 triples and 1 double axel, the LP contains 7 triples. <<Now that I've recovered, I feel confident and my jumps have become securer. My spins ans steps are better than before. Like everybody, I've adapted to the new Judgement system. I've put more speed in my execution>>, he underlines, he who showed a lack in this component until now. Concerned about his health, he hasn't found time to make "new things" he says. <<The way of judging has become so strict that taking risks is forbidden>>, says Othman, who had practiced classical and modern dance (jazz, be bop, tango). <<Recently I went in Lausanne to see "Zarathoustra", the new ballet of Maurice Béjart. It was beautiful.>> This season, his "Maturité" (the kind of diploma you get before being able to go to University, is elsewhere also named baccalauréat) in the pocket, the Berner that has been skating since he's 5 and that have had only one coach, Jacqueline Kiefer, is focusing 100% on his sport. In Lyon he'll try to qualify for the Olympics. We confirm: there's not only beer that is under pressure (dunno if you'll get the joke in English ) Et voilàààààà (please karma me LOL ;D)

Nothing really new, but I find cool that a journalist writes about it...That will make people realise that these criterias are far from totally objective...

thanks for the articles btw, I find it really stupid that Olys national federations wont let skaters participate, when they DO have spots for them...I mean, even if they don t do well (which I dont think is the case for Jamal anyway ), Olympics is such an experience and it may make a difference for them at the NEXT Olympics...

The worst is: they had the same F***ing criterias 4 years ago in SLC...I don't know which athlete they refused to send, but they sent anyway some biathlete that had finished last at a competition, he objectively didn't have the level for Olympics but still they took him to SLC, just cause he had fullfilled some obscure criterias...
But well, again, 4 years ago, Sarah Meier baely missed the criterias but was finally sent...so let's see...
