Team GB has 2 spots in the Ice Dance. If they are sending the 2 couples who finished 1st and 2nd in the National Championships, then that seems pretty fair to me actually.

I agree Whoskin, in principle, but Mark & Christina were good enough to qualify for Euros, and not TG&P, so why don't they keep that same criteria for Worlds instead of changing it around? It would make more sense for the Euro couples to consolidate their performances at Worlds, would it not? NISA should really decide whether the 2nd place couple at nationals goes or not, or whether they should have a points qualifying system leading up to Nats to decide who goes to both Euros AND Worlds.

That's a good point. I would think the same standard would increase fairness.

Yes, consistency would be good. But we are talking about NISA here! lol I think the main problem was having Nationals in Jan. That meant that the teams had to be nominated before those results were known. I gather Nationals have been scheduled earlier for 09/10 in order to avoid this ...

Only two weeks to go now..... I won´t say "Good luck", just in case S&J are superstitious...., but somehow I don´t feel too comfortable saying "break a leg" to them either...... ..... (that is just too scary..... what if something bad happens... .... it would be MY fault!!!!) Hhrrrmmmm, ....."I hope you fall through a crack in the ice and have to swim back to the hotel......" ( !!) Now, that feels better! ( That´s not likely to put a jinx on things anyway...) Weeeeeell, you KNOW what I´m trying to say!!!!! ...fingers crossed and all that.... /A

In the past the nats were at the beginning of December. I think they were too close to S&J's events ie CoR was only about 4 days before start of Nats, TEB was 9 days away (they withdrew from TEB), so they changed it to January to avoid that, I think.

Then I wonder when the best possible time to hold the Nats is... I reckon late December. After the Grand Prix Final would be best!
