I heard some stiff "skate-experts" on TV make comments about Sinead & John´s Ruled By Secrecy-Free dance, calling it "too Russian" !!!(?) They felt it was -"lots of yanking and pulling, -and less dancing"...... In their view, Pechalat &Bourzat were soooo much better...., crowdpleasing, fresh and fun! Yeah, well, P´n´B are good.... I would agree that S&J´s FD has a similar feel to it as the Michael Nyman-Memorial Requiem FD that Grishuk-Platov won the Olympics with i Nagano -98.... ...But, (hello!!) that´s NOT a bad thing !!! That FD is one of my all time favourites, so emotional and very, very original. (...if that is "too Russian", I say, "too Russian" is a great compliment!!!) .....and as for "lots of yanking and pulling....." (?!!!) I would rather be yanked and pulled by S&J, than go to the circus with Pechalat-Bourzat anyway!!!!! Our two great Scots becoming too Russian by moving to the US? ..ehrm... I think NOT... You can take the Kerrs away from Scotland, but you can never take Scotland away from the Kerrs! (...isn´t "Platov" the russian word for "SkateGod"? ) /AnniS

I have a question to all you people who skate (or have skated), pairs or dance. Does it make any difference if you skate with a person who is lefthanded ,if you are righthanded? Is it better if both are righties? It is known that a lot of artists and realy creative people are lefties, is that common i skating too? I started to wonder about this when I saw that quite a few of the skaters in Europeans pickt up presents/flowers from fans with their left hands... ....beeing a leftie myself, I got a bit curious. What about S&J? /AnniS

Personally, I thought Ruled By Secrecy was the best FD on the night. Pechalat and Borzat's basic skating was very good, but I didn't "get" their programme artistically at all. Faiella and Scali's programme just didn't work for me this year. Last year's Yentl was FAR superior. Khokhlova and Novitski's FD was the same old same old. All her and none of him. Yes, she is an amazing athlete. However, I want to see SKATING - not gymnastics. The only wobble I saw with S&J was on the twizzles. Everything else looked great I think. Obviously, there are some levels 3s which need to be level 4s. But the basic skating was the best I have ever seen them. And the spin ... Best score for the Couple Spin of ALL the FD programmes. Even Barry Davies & Robin Cousins said nice things for a change ... Let's hope for a Top 5 at Worlds ...

I just can agree Kerrs' dance has a thing that any of the other FDs have, the capacity for creating an unique atmosphere. There's no need of clapping during it, the people enjoys it.

Yes, exactly!!! ...And something about them is strange.... I can´t put my finger on it.... Maybe it is that they don´t really look like an ice-dance couple, I get a pairs-vibe from them.
Well, "sour grapes"...and so on... maybe I´m just a bit "off", still, that their score was so much better than the others.
I like Faiella and Scali´s FD a lot though, it´s so deliciously italian! Molto bene!!!

Re the leftie rightie thingy. Sinead jumps clockwise, John anti-clockwise. So Sinead spins John's way. Ain't she clever. My non skating mate said he loved the "double level spin thingy". Yes it was great, very fast. Best spin of the night.

Melanie; " Sinead spins John's way. Ain't she clever. " The perfect big sister, adapting to her little brother.... ...making him look better... aaahhh, sweeeet. Well, that´s what big sisters do (believe me ,I know). Sinead deserves an extra medal, .... gold... ....expensive... Imagine having to put up with your little brother all the time !!!! ;D ( Ha ha ha haaa) Sorry, I´m just being silly. I noticed another silly thing just now, what´s with the SIZE of those bronze medals? !!! Now, that is SILLY! I know that the world economy is in a mess and people have to be extra thrifty ,... go easy on the bling-bling, and so on... But those medals should come with a microscope!!!! But , S&J, don´t worry... I´m sure that the "goldie-sparklies" you will get in Worlds will be MUCH larger!!!!! /AnniS

It's all about quality not quantity! The medals might be small but have a huge significance!

Yes, that´s true, Melanie. ....size is not (always) important .

Which is the CD for Worlds? Do we know which one is S&J´s favourite? Is it true that the next season OD will be Folk again?
