I would like to know how many of you know where Stéphane's nickname comes from. It's for a very specific purpose, so please, if you know, don't post a reply with the lenghty explanation. And if you don't, please still pick an option! Thanks!!

The monarchy sounds best to me. Heh. I'd be even more interested in politics, than I am now...

LOL yes, ok, thanks Magdalena for reminding me to close the poll here too. And this is the explanation I gave on FSU: The story behind Stéphane's nickname is just that in 2002, some people on the skating.inc MB agreed to do something for his 17th birthday, because Stéphane (and I hardly knew him back then) had been nice enough to bring a gift to Alexei Yagudin and give it to him on his birthday at Worlds in Nagano. And I came up with the idea of presenting Stéphane with the book "Le Petit Prince", because I loved the book and Stéphane SO reminded me of him, so people sent me messages which I put into the book and I gave it to him on his birthday. Since then some of us have called him "le Petit Prince", then we started using that nickname on his website, and now the Swiss media all talk about "le Petit Prince". They especially love that nickname right now, because Stéphane has just changed his LP to "King Arthur" so they can write about "the Little Prince who wants to become a King" or stuff like that (but I told Stéphane that he'll always be the Little Prince to many of us, even if he becomes 4-time Olympic champion! ). And now I have to add that I find it funny that since I posted the answer on FSU, the number of correct answers has dropped from 44 to 41%!!

Well I was one of those who didn't know the answer. Strangely, I had heard of the author of the book though.

Just a few words 'in arrears' I am sorry I did not read this thread before. I was a little bit confused about his nickname. I saw 'le Petit Prince' skating in Lausanne 2001. He is definitely not 'le Petit Prince' on the ice now but I would not call Steph ' the King' yet. I did not realise before that the nickname actually refers to the book 'le Petit Prince' by Antoine de St-Exupéry. In that case I think this nickname reflects the way he is.

I had that book when I was a kid, but for some reason I never read it. I'll have to check the local library if they've got it, 'cos now I wanna read it.
