The ceremony happened tonight, and it has nothing to do with the Sports Awards that were given a month ago. There were 6 categories (sport, society, economy, politics, showbusiness, culture) with 3 nominees in each. Thomas Lüthi won the sport award (again) ahead of Stéphane and Simone Niggler-Luedi, and then the audience could vote for the "Swiss of the year" among the 18 people. The good surprise is that Stéphane finished 3rd with 15.7% of the votes!! Tom Lüthi was 2nd with 16% and Peter Sauber (involved in F1 car races) won with over 22%. Congrats to Stéph and thanks to all the people who called for him! (And in the meantime, I didn't win any of the 6x 1 million Swiss francs that were given out tonight... *sigh*)

Isn't he the owner or at least the head of Sauber F1 team? I used to be a fan of F1Thakns, Celine, for sharing this good news

Isn't he the owner or at least the head of Sauber F1 team? That's him! From what I got during the ceremony, he sold his team to another team this season, but he made sure that ALL of his employees would keep their jobs and he got the award in the category "economy" for that.

Lol when I first read that he won I thought - why did he win when his team quits? Are people so happy that he isn't in F1 anymore? But I didn't know about the employees so that's a good thing from him Congratulations to Stéphane!!!

Well, this is more an award for "lifetime achievement" and for the way they've represented Switzerland in the world in most cases - in this case, it was. I was actually surprised to see Tom and Stéph just behind him.
