Hello Everyone! I am new here! My name is Maddalena. I started following figure skating when I moved to Switzerland in 2001. In Italy (my home country) this sport was not as popular as football. No ice rinks, only stadiums. Then Torino (my home town) was selected to host the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and skaters started to be as adored as football players! Such a joy to see Stéphane win his Olympic medal in my city! I don’t remember the first time I saw him on tv, but I was immediately awestruck: a skater who moved on the ice like a ballet dancer. He was such a pleasure to watch. So Stéphane became the reason I was hooked every year in front of my tv to watch figure skating competitions. He has what other skaters did not have : he brought art, beauty and grace to this sport. I was in awe.
Now that he's no longer competing, he pushed his art to another level. I love going Art On Ice in Lausanne every year, and be spellbound! Such an amazing performer and a beautiful soul!

Hello everyone! My name is Valerie. I'm 18, live in Ukraine. I'm interested in figure skating since childhood, but superficially. And about Stéphane i've known recently, about 4 months ago and, honestly, I'm really happy that I've known about him, that I've met this person in my life. It happened unexpectedly! It was boring evening, I had nothing to do, so I decided to watch tv as usual. I turned on the tv and there was being shown the ice show "Ice age: cup of professionals" (Russian show). As usual I was impressed by skating of the competitors. Pair skaters perfomed first, then it was the turn for single men skaters. In that moment I was out of my room, but I heard what the comperes were talking about. One of them said: ... can you imagine the competitor, whom we have to announce now, kissed me... . I thought: hm, who was that guy? When I came back to the room, I saw, he was already in the starting position of the program ( by the way my love to him began with this programme "ne me quitte pas"). My first impression was: oh, what a nice, black-haired, skiny and delicate boy! And then, his first dramatic/emotional head rotation...and I was struck! I understood, my love to Stéphane and, namely with Stéphane, my unforgettable deep way to the world of figure skating has started!

I've been lurking here for awhile and finally decided to post My name is Silvia, I'm from Italy. I'm a long time fan of Stéphane, I discovered him during the olympic games 2006 in Turin. Unfortunately, I didin't watch the competition, only the exhibitions, but it was love at first sight. It was the first time someone touched my heart so deeply. I couldn't help but stare in fascination during his skating. He was so light, elegant and most important, he gave me a sense of freedom and joy, two things I treasure a lot in life. I have followed his carreer, more or less, and I still follow figure skating because of course I love this sport, but I swear, after all this years, after thousands of beautiful skaters, I still can't find someone like him. No one skates like him, no one is able to give you that "something" you could stay for hours watching him. I don't know how to explain myself, but I'm sure all you here can perfectly understand. He's really gifted, a creature from another world. I'm glad he still continues to amaze the entire world whit his presence and his art.

I completely agree with you about Stephane, I too could watch him for hours and hours. There is no one quite like him, there is such a great sense of boundless freedom and feeling in his skating. Just wonderful.

Welcome to the board, Gaja. It's nice to see new people joining. It's been rather quiet here lately (like in a few last years lately ).
