hmmm...it's really strange!! a reality show with skaters i think it's not a good idea In the UK we have recently watched Dancing On Ice, with 6 celebrities learning how to ice dance with 6 professional skating partners such as Todd Sand (silver world Pair medallist), and the previous two ladies from British Ice Dance who were national champions, and two skaters from the Russian Imperial Ice Stars. Torvill and Dean were the choreographers/coaches/performers/comperes and that they performed an adapted version of Bolero, live. On the show judging, among others, was Robin Cousins (Gold Olympian 1980). Each week the couples would perform, the 5 judges would judge, and the British public would vote for their favourite celebrity to remain in the show. The TV show which went on for 10 weeks was watched by *millions* and skating in the UK has taken off again. Rinks are doubling their admission sales. There's going to be another series of the show. There was another skating TV show of this type last year, and it was also very successful. Not a good idea? We'll see. It may catch on in your country. If you're interested in seeing Bolero and some videos from Dancing On Ice, it's all here: www.dancingonice.com/main.php ;D As for Barbara and Maurizio, isn't it better they quit amateur skating *now* and be remembered for the World Championship title rather than them dropping down the rankings like stones? If you still don't believe how popular this type of show is, visit FSU, look for the Dancing on Ice thread. Also, there are other forums (big ones) where people have been discussing the show. Probably not, but maybe the TV bosses in Hungary will hear of it and want it for themselves...

Melanie I don't say that it won't have success, but I think that before start broadcasting programs like that, here in Italy where the ice-skating is NEVER on tv, maybe it would be better to let italian people watch the real skating, I mean competitions... than, as you said, we'll see... kiss Ery

It is the same here.
We are lucky to get British Eurosport coverage.
They don't show the British Nationals on TV, but millions tuned in to Dancing On Ice.
