I am very much looking forward to see Stephane in shows. Now even more people will be able to see him around the world. BUT... I fell it is about time that the rules from ISU changed so skaters were allowed to earn money from their sports as in many other sports.Like ice hockey ...it was many years ago the skipped the amatuer status (like OG everyone can particitape in)Why cant that be it in all sports so it is up to the sportsman to do what he whishes.ISU feels very old fashioned Maria

I am sad to hear that Stéphane will not be competing anymore I just met him and he's leaving already... But it's his choice and really, as long as he's happy and healthy, that's all that matters. Thank goodness he will be doing galas!! Btw, I don't know where to ask this, but my sister and I came up with a poll idea - everyone to vote for a top 10 figure skaters list? Will people be interested in voting for that?

Aw, I kinda knew this news was coming. In a way it is sad to hear he's retiring (again)...I really enjoyed watching him in competitions, it's just not the same as in galas, but if he's happier without all the rules, and feels he has no further goals in FS, well then it's for the best.
I'm glad Stephane did come back to compete, and we got to see new programs...it was a real treat.
Good luck to him now, and we'll still see him skate in a lot of shows!

He won't have any regrets and came back to a fantastic finish. I wish he didn't have to deal with the injuries, but I think he'll be able to be his creative self so much more as a show skater! Hopefully we'll still see lots of him.

I won't hide my disappointment. Yesterday I was already in a bad mood and though I expected this news now or then, I can't help but feel sad. I don't think I can ever understand his decision of not skating in the Euros next year. It could be such a memorable farewell. I'll just say to myself, that his injuries are worse than I can imagine. Well, it was important to see him in the Olympics, without him this great event would have been a pain to watch. (My eyes would be searching for him all the time.) And when I watched the Olympic Gala, I watched it as if it was the last time (in big events), with the help of the Turkish commentator who constantly told it was the last time. This is important you know... I'm really glad, and thankful as a figure skating fan, for everything he has done in competitions. (except the part of his habit of retiring ) I hope he will be an inspiration to the new skaters. That's all for now.

I don't know if I should be sad or happy... First I was thinking: Oh no, I won't see him in Bern...you know, next year I want to forfill a lifedream and got to EC in Bern and see all these fabolous skaters life on the ice, and of couse I hoped to see him there... But maybe he just signed this contract for the Thin Ice Show because ot the readson that he will be excluded for competitions...So nobody can force him to go to EC or oder competitions, he will have his freedom for 2 years and a lot of time to think it all over... He doesn't have to explain himself, it's just the fact that he is not allowed to compete... clever boy, isn't he? But nevertheless I am bloody sad about it...
