Hi, I'm enjoying myself with watching video montages of Stéphane on YouTube. I haven't done that much because I like it better that he skates to his own music, but recently I saw some good montages so I'm exploring them. I just watched: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyPcLH7004I&feature=relatedIt's called: The Passionate Dancer and posted by IceLadyBug. Are you a member here? I hope so. Perhaps you will tell me (or anybody else who knows it) from what performance the footage is at 1:34 where he does a full split of his legs. I always thought that only ladies can do that and only a few man. And I can't remember having seen this before, so I'm very curious from what program it is! Can someone help me on this? Salut, Annelfie

Annelfie, Stephane's split amazed me, too. It's almost for sure from ArtOn Ice 'Staying Alive'-2006. If not in the program itself, he did the split afterwards. In a spare minute I'll try to find out the precise video. Salut

Salut, Annelfie Yes, Annelfie, it's Staying Alive: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKIHIzQVZDAThe split is at 3.05-3.08. I would have been always admiring this split if in a short while he wouldn't have got injured in his adductor muscles, and all the major problems in his health and career began... It's a pity you're not a fan of montages. Some of them seem to me really cute, and I'm planning to bring some to my YouTube channel . Salut

She used to post on this board, under a different name. I think she still reads the board, though, and I know she'll appreciate your kind words. Now I have a technical question: How do you save one picture from an Adobe Flash slideshow? I would really like that pic of my banner for the scrapbook. Thanks, sm

Now I have a technical question: How do you save one picture from an Adobe Flash slideshow? I would really like that pic of my banner for the scrapbook Well, I press "pause" on the control panel of the slideshow and then use WinShot - it just photographs the selected region of your desktop. But I must say that some guys here do know a better way because I found the picture you want on lambiel_ru and it is uncut (the snapshot I got was a bit smaller because I had to cut above the control panel). Here it is s07.radikal.ru/i180/1010/83/e433f215fd4f.jpg

It's a pity you're not a fan of montages. Some of them seem to me really cute, and I'm planning to bring some to my YouTube channel . Thanks. By seeing the clothes I wondered if it might have been Staying alive. I never noticed the split before. On YouTube it's another angle, less obvious than in the montage. And I'm starting to like montages. The first ones I saw were from people who just put some other music to one whole program. I don't like that. But I saw the montage of the flawless Four Seasons and enjoyed that very much and looked around a bit. And seeing beautiful pieces of all kinds of programs where they go with a chosen music, that's different and surprising. So if you give me a link to your YouTubeChannel, I'll certainly will look there. And I understand your concern about this split and his adductor-problems. It's an uncontrollable move. Gravity can put you down to far and overstrech a muscle. But I think he now has learned how to take care of his body. Luckily just in time to keep on skating! Salut, Annelfie

PS: sorry for the long post, but I really needed to get this of my chest.
I enjoy all the info (videos, photos, repos) ATS-LA very much. So wonderful to read that fans had such a great time meeting their idol. I can really be happy for them.
But it also reminds me of april'10 in Krefeld. I had never been to a show or competition before, but Krefeld (Germany) I could reach by car. I had arranged to see the training/rehearsal in the afternoon so that day would be glorious. I had seen on YouTube so many videos of how Stéphane takes notice of his fans. I was all ready to give him my share of happiness with his performances and personality.
Of course I thought about a gift and eventually I made a playlist of some of my favourite music I wanted to share with him. I bought a USB-stick to put on all that music and also a Word-document with a letter. The USB-stick was red&black, just like the huge chocolate lady-bug I attached it to. I also made a print of the letter, so he would not overlook what I wanted to say to him.
At the training/rehearsal, I met 3 lovely fans of Stéphane. We had all the time in the world to chat, because the bus with the skaters was delayed. The evening before, they had done World's Best in Nuremburg and drove afterwards to Krefeld. They only arrived at 5am, so early in the morning. Of course they had to rest and had a traffic-jam, so rehearsal was very much later than expected. But like I said: I never had met fans of Stéphane or figure-skatingfans before (in Holland not many people watch figure-skating) and we had a lot to talk about. That was great fun!
I don't know if it was because of tiredness or because we weren't drawing enough attention to us, but we never got a chance to meet Stéphane for a few minutes to give him our presents. And I am so sad about that. At the rehearsal he skated in front of us (I have some footage from him teaching Jamal the choreography to Kings on Ice, but I don't want it on YouTube and I don't know how to share it otherwise), several times he passed us while we were sitting in the front row and had displayed our presents on the board. But we didn't feel free to shout for him. He was concentrating and we didn't want to disturb that. Afterwards, I thought he might have been to shy to be the one to go to us instead of being called by us for his attention. He could have seen my lady-bug-present because Olivier Schönfelder was reacting to it when he passed by ('ahhh, chocolade!' he said)
The hall was only half-full and people were clapping, but not cheering loudly and I was one of the few to give Stéphane a standing ovation. During the break and afterwards, it was impossible to have access to the skaters. So when we were sent away, we went to the parking-lot to wait for the bus. We were behind a fence, but saw from a distance the skaters enter the bus one by one, waiting for the others and for departure. We were there with only about 20 people and the others yelled for Plushenko. Only Maxim Stavisky and later on Albena Denkova (they skated 2 beautiful programs!!) came from the bus to the fence and signed stuff, like the skating boots of a young girl.
I never understood why Plushenko didn't come out for 5 minutes to sign and because they shouted for him, we shouted for Stéphane. It would have only taken 5 or 10 minutes to please those few people, but perhaps there are rules and regulations that made it impossible to do that. Or they just had no energy for it, or whatever.
I had given the little bag with my present, to the person from the organisation who had let us in for the rehearsal. He said he would try to give it to Stéphane. Later I emailed him to ask if he had succeeded. And when he gave no answer, I had the courage to ask again a week later. He mailed me that he had given it to the manager of Stéphane.
So in the end I have no idea if my present reached him and I have not seen his beautiful smile receiving it or thanking me with a hug. I absolutely don't blame him for that!! (Don't get me wrong!) This is how things go and like someone mentioned here: he must have 2 million best friends! That's impossible to manage for 1 person, so in my head I know this is how things go and that no one's to blame. But in my heart it still hurts that this was my opportunity as a fan to have those few moments of eye-contact and really express mY gratitude.
So every-time I read someone succeeding in having such moments, I am so happy for them. I'm not a jealous person, more the opposite: I see no point in denying others what I had wanted too. The world doesn't become a better place if I don't want other people to get what I couldn't. So why not be happy for the person who receives what you know is so lovely to receive! But it also makes me wonder: what did I do wrong? I have read of meetings in hotels and wonder: how do you know where he stays? How do you get to meet him in the lobby? Are you staying in the same hotel? Or how else can you be in the lobby when he is?? And how do you get his attention?
I sure would like to have another chance to meet Stéphane, but I am scared to perhaps go to Art on Ice. I'm not a world-traveller and I don't have much budget for flights and hotels. I could only do that if I was really sure I would really meet him. I don't think I would survive another attempt to meet him and not succeed. Then I better stick to watching the videos, read your stories and be satisfied with that.
Am I the only one who was at the right place at the right time, but with the wrong circumstances? (I mean going to see Stéphane and not succeeding to meet him?) And how is that with Art on Ice? I read about fans meeting there and arranging meetings with Stéphane? Is that always the case with Art on Ice, or do I need to be lucky?
Anyway, after the Krefeld-show I started looking for fans of Stéphane on the internet and it brought me to you, for which I'm very grateful. I enjoy so much sharing here. That gave me the courage to write all this and ask you for your experiences with this, get some comfort out how you girls deal with this and then keep on enjoying together the wonderful art and personality of Stéphane.
Salut, Annelfie

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, annelfie!
I can totally understand your feelings. It's indeed not so easy like it may sometime look, to meet Stéphane personally and to exchange some words with him. Not that Stéphane would not be interested in, I'm quiet sure most of the time he is interested.
For more, please check your PM. Thanks.

Hello, Some time ago, somebody (was it reut?) posted a YouTube-link that started at the exact moment she wanted to show. I asked and she explained that it was easy to do that. You just have to add the time to the URL.
I've forgotten how to do that. I searched on the forum but couldn't find the post in which she explained. Perhaps is was lost during the July-crash. Can someone please explain again?
question: how do you add an exact timepoint to a YouTube-URL?

Dear Annelfie, You did nothing wrong in Krefeld, and it was lovely of you to cheer for Stéphane at his practice and during the show. I can imagine how disappointed you were when you could not hand your special present to him. I think it's partly luck to be able to meet him, but sometimes "creative" planning can help, too. At Thin Ice I met a small group from this forum but Stéphane never showed up to the meet and greet. We were disappointed but were able to talk to some of the show organizers and explain that we had traveled far to support Stéphane. We decided to buy tickets for another show to try again to meet him and to see him skate live again. The woman recognized us (well, kevinbw) and she communicated to Stéphane that his fans had returned so we were able to meet him. But we had to buy tickets for this other show and kevinbw even traveled again many hours by train to try again with no assurance that he would meet Stéphane. As for the meeting in LA...I figured I had nothing to lose by asking for a meeting. I could not believe it when I received a response from his agent via email. I stared at the email for 15 minutes in disbelief. Again, I believe it was luck that Stephane's agent happened to be coming to LA with him, and it's "lucky" that figure skating is not so popular in the United States, so the skaters are more easily met. We found out which hotel by chance and pure luck again when one girl called the Marriott and was told no rooms were available because they were reserved for skaters that weekend! So do not despair, my dear, as Stephane will hopefully skate in shows for many years. I have faith you will meet him and it will be WONDERFUL.

I came here to ask a question, but I see I never answered this one, sorry for the impoliteness! But I don't have the money to travel wherever I want, whenever I want and also pay for hotels and so on. Krefeld was a really unique chance for me. And I also contacted the organisation and tried to arrange all I could arrange. But who knows, there'll be another time. In the mean time, I'm really thankful for internet and sharing here. Hope you'll all still have sweet memories and dreams about your meeting with Stéphane! Salut, Annelfie

Hello, Yesterday I was browsing the internet for Stéphane in search of the video of Oceania (by Björk) There's only one version to find on YouTube but there's no sound to it, so I needed to google it. I knew that on another site there was a version with sound: www.tudou.com/programs/view/8y6ywg9viRc/It's a bad quality video, you sometimes can hardly watch him skate, but what you cán see, is so extrodinary, especially the rolling on the ice. Have to search if it's downloadable and perhaps in better shape. (update: I downloaded it from freefalls collection. Thanks!!) Anyway, I had to search and came across this page: ontd-skating.wikispaces.com/St%C3%A9phane+LambielIt seems to be an updated page with a nice overview of all of his programs until recently and I clicked some. Then there came a weird sentence: Update:After having heard from Elanor (see some entries below) that this site looks a normal informative site but sometimes puts strange quotes on it 'for fun'(whoever thinks that's funny) Now I understand how to deal with this information and that's it's making fun over the heads of other people, not considering the hurt it might bring them. That puts an end to the mixed feelings I originally talked about in this entry about the weird sentence I read there, I know now how to judge it. Thanks for helping me out and Elanor gave me the suggestion to remove the weird quote from this entry and that's what I'm doing in this update. Thanks for the info and the tips how to deal with it. That's what I meant when I wrote in my original entry: Or is this off topic, then please tell me. I'm not trying to gossip. Like I said, I respect Stéphanes privacy very much, it's just so weird to read this. Salut, Annelfie, wishing Stéphane all the best and all the love he needs in his private life.
