Thank you pia and elanor . I wondered about the music he skates to. I only knew Peter Gabriel's My body is a cage which is a great piece, the other versions that I tried to check are not that good, but then Peter Gabriel is such a music icon, the new bands I don't know well, lol, I'm prety ignorant about current popular music. This version in the video is yet something different, I have no idea who sings it. Apparently it's Rhonda Dorsey, who also sings at 'Art on Ice' - www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0c9hVsDGo8 (just an example of her singing)

Hi from Art on Ice! Being here is an adventure like every year.
For me "My Body is a Cage" is one of the greatest programs on earth.
You really have a lot to think about it, if you search out information about it... ... and he did it so well.

My Body is a Cage is a song by Canadian Arcade Fire. Surprised and pleased to find out he is skating to one of their songs.

I am back from tonights show and I agree with Schnaddels comment. All the show was great, but "My body is a cage" was just magic and the highlight of everything. The program is so full of emotions, feelings, expression, it's a typical "Stéphane-program" where he shows his art and makes us love him more and more . And the singer's voice was just breathtaking! The other program was not so meaningful of course but I liked it too. It was full of energy and fun, and the zebra came back :-). It was a glamorous evening with many highlights. I also loved Tanya and Max, Aljona and Robin, Elena and Nikita, Miki and Flo and of course Sarah. Her first program "not myself tonight" was really cool and I loved the costume a lot. But the star of the evening was Stéphane, no doubt, and well... as always! The audience shouted and clapped and whistled and everybody was enchanted of his magic art.

You really have a lot to think about it, if you search out information about it... ... and he did it so well. Can you elaborate more, please? Because I searched for the info (I always love to read more about the music Stephane chooses), but didn't find any. Thank you everyone who shared information. And those, who are still to watch AOI, enjoy! Check some photos from Maria on the site: www.absoluteskating.com/photogallery/2012aoisneak.html

Found this on NPR:s site:
"The breathtaking "My Body Is a Cage" finds singer Win Butler in a contemplative state of mind. Over a pulse-like drumbeat, he sings, "My body is a cage / that keeps me from dancing / with the one I love / but my mind holds the key." Slowly, his weary voice is surrounded by the sounds of a colossal pipe organ that filters in like a mysterious mist. The result is one part soulful ballad and one part philosophical dilemma: If he and only he is responsible for his freedom, then why the hesitation? Why not go barreling straight into freedom? "My Body Is a Cage" serves as a bombastic linchpin for Neon Bible, bringing an undercurrent of fear and anxiety to the surface. Butler sings, backed by a powerful choir of commiserating voices — a chorus of unhelpful angels. As the song builds to a momentous conclusion, Butler repeats, "Set my spirit free / Set my body free." It's either a desperate plea to a higher power or a triumphant declaration, or maybe a little bit of both."

I love her voice, and she doesn't slip in affectation or show off like many soul singers. I really liked a lot that soul/symphonic rendition of the song Stephane skated to. I don't know if it was arrangement especially for the show but it was done very well, artistically tasteful, powerful but restrained. It's a pity it can't be recorded.
