Q: How do you feel after performing at DOI? Ando: This show has been serving for the skaters to be more expressive since figure skating was not as popular as it is now and it worked a lot. So I feel great. And also I think I could show new Miki Ando to the audience.
Q: It was a graceful program, wasn’t it? Ando: Yes. A choreographer aimed to make an elegant program and gave me some new ways of expressions. I’d be happy if the audience would be in a tender mood.
Q: What do you want to show most in this program? Ando; Well, it was choreographed by a female choreographer, Noriko Sato. I know I was seen as a powerful and dense skater. It was black if compared to color. However, after one year of sitting out from competition, I think I have changed. And I want you to see new aspect on me with soft and feminine movement.
Q; Who will choreograph your programs next season? Ando: I was going to work with Stephane, but as you know, he is not in that condition now, so, it’s still unclear. As for FP, I did not decide yet.
Q: How do you feel about your condition for up-coming season? Ando: I still couldn’t find the goal for next season. I have trouble to keep up my motivation. I practice on the ice every day, and my condition is not bad; I can jump even triple lutz or 3t-3t, however, I’m not ready to compete yet. I signed because I had to. Unless I signed it, I will not be able to compete in Grand Prix series. I just did it to have more options.
Though, I want to keep my physical condition, if I compete or not. It’s just a matter of my feelings. I’m also anxious about Stephane. I can’t be positive about the competition. So I think everything is really fluid yet

Yuzuru Hanyu
Q: How do you feel about your performance today? Yuzuru: I enjoyed a lot. Audience was amazing and I feel I could skate really well.
Q: What do you think about skating to Kurt Browning’s choreography? Yuzuru: I skated as picturing Kurt’s performance in my mind. I think it worked, however, only when I threw my T-shirt to the stand after my performance, suddenly I felt shy and I guess I couldn’t make it cool. Maybe better in next time.
Q: At the later part of your performance there was the part of wonderful footwork. I think it was the highlight of this program. Yuzuru: I love that part. I tried to do that part in every spare moment during my practice. The footwork was the hardest part in this program, because I felt tired mostly. But it’s also the most exciting parts so even if I’m really tired I want to make sure to step accurately. I totally enjoyed this program and I’m so happy to ask for Kurt to choreograph my exhibition program.
Q: How’s your ankle which you hurt before the World Team Trophy? Yuzuru: It’s getting well gradually. I had about 1 month off and it doesn’t affect my skating. I think there’s no problem to getting into competitive season.
Q: How is your practice in Canada going? Yuzuru: There are so many rinks in Cricket club so I can have more time to practice. Now I want to work on improving my skating skills.
Q: Did you find something new about the new coach? Yuzuru: Brian can jump himself. So I think it is more convenient for me to learn because he showed me how to do it actually.
Q: Why did you choose to go to overseas, I mean Canada? Yuzuru: Just because I wanted to step up to upper stage. If I seriously want to go to Sochi, I have to make me really strong and to do something new.
Q: What troubles you most when you work in Canada? Yuzuru: It is that I can’t understand English. But I remembered several expressions like “What do you say it in English?” or “What did you say?” and ask Orser each time. So it’s okay.
Q; Please tell us about your impression of Orser? Yuzuru: I read a book (about him or maybe Cricket Club) and thought it amazing. If I can skate in such kind of circumstances, I must be stronger. That’s why I chose him.
Q: How does Orser recognize you? Yuzuru; First of all, he said, we have to work on skating skill. Actually I’m working on skating skill with Tracy Wilson right now, who is also coaching there along with Orser,
Q: What is the most different from the former seasons? Yuzuru: My first competition this season is closer than ever. (He was assigned to the first GP event, Skate America) So I feel like uneasy a bit. However, I want to appeal how much I improve in new training environment to judges. (He said I wanted to make judges excited at first but turned it down soon). I want to get better and better.
Q: What is your goal this season? Yuzuru: I medaled in the last World so I aim to win both of Grand Prix events. I want to boost my skating skills, jumps, and everything about my skating technique to the next level. My final goal is to go to Sochi Olympics and do great performances.

Daisuke Takahashi
Q: How do you feel of skating in DOI? D.T. It was fun after 1 year absence from this show. It was amazing to skate with those skaters who are about a dozen years younger than me. I’m also happy that the audience looked enjoy very much. My condition was not so good, though, because the competitive season is still way ahead now.
Q: How about your new program? D.T. I didn’t get into tango mood fully yet, but it’s not me who praise it or not but the audience. Dream On Ice is a special show and it made me nervous a little.
(The JSF stuff interrupted and said there’s an announcement from Daisuke Takahashi) JSF: Daisuke Takahashi will introduce a new advisory coach who joins team Daisuke from now on.
Nikolai Morozof entered and stand besides Daisuke. D.T. Nikolai offered me to work together again just before the last World. However, I wanted to concentrate on the World so I didn’t think about it then. After it was over, I spend a lot of time thinking about it and finally I decided to accept his offer. I thought I needed him when I have to prepare for Sochi Olympics. N.M. Frankly Daisuke is my favorite student ever. I regreted that I could have helped him more. I want to apologize about what happened 4 years ago. Now the situation has changed and I hope we will accomplish something that we couldn’t then.
D.T. I have found my own way after separating from him but sometime I had trouble being motivated. He was really good at providing motivation so I expected him to help me with this. I don’t have a clear vision about our relationship yet because I have just decided it. I was totally depended him before but now I want to decide mainly by myself so I hope our relationship will be different from the one at that time. I am grateful for his offer and want to respond his expectation. I want to create a new kind of relationship between us. I have to try not to disappoint him. I feel like it a game with him, a big challenge. I want him to appreciate me more than ever.
Q: How do you think you can help him? N.M. I like the word he said, “a game”. I expect we can spend a wonderful time together. I’m sure we can create a new good relationship especially when he has improved this much. I will commit myself to get him medaled at the Sochi Olympics.
Q: How did you see him these 4 years? N.M. When I worked with him, he was just one of great skaters, but now he becomes a great historical skater. So I have to improve myself, too. Soon after we separated, I was kind of jealous. But I calmed down after I recognized he just showed his outstanding talent. D.T. I have been bothered by that sudden separation so I’m very happy for getting together again. I was totally surprised when I heard about his offer. To tell the truth, I wished if I could work with him some day but it would never come true. So I spent a lot of time thinking about it. I have changed a lot. I was dependent then but now I can make decision by myself. I think humans are really interesting (because we can change like this). I think my training circumstance right now is not bad. But if I go to Nikolai to train he will give me extra push.
Q: Tell us about your programs for upcoming season? D.T. Provably I won’t use Nikolai’s choreography. I was going to do with a certain choreographer but the situation has changed so I can’t say anything for sure yet. We will announce after we decide. Everything is still up in the air. We will talk after DOI is over.
Q: Mr. Morozof used to produce skaters totally. Will it be same this time? N.M. It depends on the further discussion. I didn’t decide alone even 4 years ago. We always decided as a team so I want to debate carefully.

I couldn't catch Nikolai Morozof's speech in English because the conference place was too noisy. So they were translated by me after interpreter translated them into Japanese. So it might have a slightly different nuance.
I also didn't bring a recorder with me this time. I depended on my memo when I wrote during these interviews so there might not be quite accurate. So please keep it in you mind when you read them.
Thank you for reading, everyone!

The only thing - when are you all going to learn that it's Stephane (with an accent on 'e', I am just too lazy to search for it on my computer each time) Lambiel, not Stephen, Stephan or Stefan? He is from the french part of Switzerland.

Hi lauravvv,
Thank you for pointing out my mistake. It is not easy for a Japanese like me to spell someone's name out correctly. I will try to be more careful.

He is from the french part of Switzerland. I understand the irritation, but keep in mind for many foreign writers it is not that easy to spell certain names correctly. Imagine that for Japanese people (just an example) it is just as hard to write European names, as it is for us Europeans to write Japanese ones... (etc) Also this are MBposted interviews not on the site, meaning it hasn't been checked and Atsuko has been so gracious to post them here as soon as she could. Much thanks for that, Atsuko!
