I liked both Stephane's costumes, he indeed tried to keep it simpler last years, but it looks very elegant and very flattering to him, I think, both in some balletic direction he is so fond of. Apart from shiny satin pants, I agree with Mr.Grutter that they make him look fat. (Well, not FAT, but let's just say the other ones, look much better on him). I wonder if he'll keep "Try" for other shows, just because I really, really loved that costume. I actually enjoyed the "sexy macho" group number to "Maneater". Especially because both his programs were slow, it was nice to see Stephane in a very different mood. Sarah and him always made a very good looking couple on the ice. To tell the truth I read "Sense" lyrics a few times (I always read the lyrics of the songs Stephane is using, because it always influences his choreo), but I saw there only the popular teenage love lyrics, overused "I love you, I want to die" theme - "my heart won't cry", "maybe I'll just get drunk and it will all make sense" and all that - and wasn't much impressed. "The Water" was more unusual and different in that sense. But probably it's just me, sorry.

There was a small article in todays swiss tabloid press ('Blick'). Mostly about some Swiss "VIP's" at the after party, but also some sentences about Sarah Meier and Stéphane.
About Stéphane they write that he gave everything for his performance, even though he was not quite fit.
"Lambiel was tired. His performances at the after party are famous, in recent years he entered the stage, sang and danced exuberantly. Yesterday evening the ice star was more quiet. Instead of dancing, he eat an ice cream and remained in the background. Why didn't he warm up? Very simple: "I am tired" he said in a low voice."

Translation: Breathless through the skating nightFor its 20 years anniversary, Art on Ice comes about young and rebellious. Furtunately, skaters like Stéphane Lambiel and Daisuke Takahashi can assert themselves on their own. It's quite courageous actually to begin an ice show - which most connect with gliding to bombastic melodies - with a drum solo. "Art on Ice" 2015 did exactly this and sent Carolina Kostner, the lovely South-Tirolean, on the ice to it. Right after, Frenchman Florent Amodio who usually is full of beans skated in the role of a brooding artist to a string concert. This years continuation of the Swiss success story seemed to deliberately be brushed against the grain. The operetta-like figure skating of the old school is over; it got even caricatured in a rather disrespectful, but clever way. It's almost subversive what the Franco-Canadian group "Patin Libre" did with the everlasting tearjerker "Time to Say Goodbye". Fortunately there were still some frill skirts to see, to Marc Sways "I can see the World" - and skating artists like Japanese Daisuke Takahashi do not need any ingredients to cast a spell over the whole hall. Sarah Meier could shine once again and savor the first truly emotional moment of the evening. She skated her 'good-bye-dance' to Tom Odells "Grow old with me". The blond British piano-bard does not exactly offer 'stadium anthems'. To make a space-filling experience out of his intellectual and introspective song "Sense", someone like Stéphane Lambiel is needed. There's no time for breathing in this 20th edition of "Art on Ice". Dance on stage merges seamlessly with the movements on the ice, the light directs the emotions, projections fill ice and space. It has been a long road from its beginnings in Küsnacht in 1995 to this perfectly composed show in Zurich's "Hallenstadion". Initially they relied on big opera, then came the phase of the pop- and rock legends which mainly brought the 'league of the 50 plus' (years old) to revel. Today it's the names of the current charts. In the second act it was Latino-Canadian Nelly Furtado with her R'n'B- and Hip-Hop-beats who heated up the skaters and the audience. by Ruth Spitzenpfeil

Thank you, jomeku, for translations. I ddin't know it was the last Sarah Maier's show. For Stephane's condition, of course he must be exhausted during Art on Ice and now with many important commitments before even more so. Physical problems are not news but he looked well prepared, fit and on. Maybe partying isn't the best idea with so many shows in a row, at 19 it's not such a problem. And he ends the show which takes much energy. Here is another video from today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r-eVObqtpYIt was very interesting for me to see the same program from different side of the ice, and overall it's great to have many good videos to see all the details. I only noticed how golden blades matched the costume and really were visible on the ice, I couldn't take my eyes of them. His basic skating, the harmony of it is mesmerizing.

Thank you for translation, jomeku. And thank you for finding the video, elanor. There was also report on Tele-Zuri, you can see it here: www.telezueri.ch/show-lifestyleWas there something interesting said? I understand that Stephane was asked (at 13:42) about talking Portuguese with invited stars. What did he say? As for after parties, well, yes, we all don't get younger, and Stephane usually leaves lots of energy on the ice. During last after parties I was present he always was coming last, leaving first and chose to stay at the background most of the time. Maybe also because numerous autographs and photos took all the rest of the energy he had left after the show. But I don't think this is something we should be worried about. And yes, I agree, on the ice he looked in a grate shape, with triple-triple combinations and all.

Scans of the two Stéphane photos in this years Art on Ice booklet: I wonder where the first one has been taken? I love them and especially that Stéphane wears sneakers to his balletic pose in the first one .

Wow, thank you for the scans, jomeku! How was the show?
Also, I suddenly recalled: so what did they do with that green screen? Was there some projections we didn't see on the video?

Wow, thank you for the scans, jomeku! How was the show? Also, I suddenly recalled: so what did they do with that green screen? Was there some projections we didn't see on the video? I've been to the afternoon show today …. and the green screen and "cool-stuff-thing" was indeed one of the reasons why I thought about trying to get a ticket for the evening show too ... Because I didn't see anything of it: I was too focused on taking videos, for the first time at all (and if I find out how to upload them and if they are at least halfways of good quality, I might upload them later on). It's only after the two performances of Stéphane that I realized I "only" have focused on him and have completely forgotten to watch if there was some screening simultaneously! Pity … but watching Stéphane skate (even though through a camera lens) was a hundred times worth it. (I hesitated quite a while but did not go to the evening show finally, it would have been great in a way, but not really reasonable… ). So, I also hope that someone else will have found out about this green screen . That's the "problem" with Art on Ice: You have to make a choice where to look at, you cannot see everything. It's not only the many side-actions that "disturb" from focusing on the skating; also in the second act the music has been very loud partially and together with the intensive light effects it almost "swallowed" what happened on the ice - don't know how to describe better. But that's how AOI is and what makes it special. My personal focus is definitely on skating, but I liked the show. It's the same as every year, but different, as every year. This time I think they want to attract more also a younger audience. The stage dancers are in dark costumes, robot-like and hip-hop or break-dance. Also the group numbers like "Maneater" or Joannie Rochette's performance with dancers were "younger", and the very sensual Finale. Those group numbers were great! Or the three members of the group "Patin Libre", who were introduced by the singer Tanja Danker (in a doctor's coat) as psychiatric clients allowed to have an evening off thanks to good behavior - if I understood well. I felt privileged to see Daisuke Takahashi, Tessa Virtue/Scott Moir for the first time live. They were wonderful, great dancers and performers! Daisuke's Tango was breathtaking and got huge applauses, not only by his Japanese fans. I hope there will be some videos. I was also glad to see that Max Trankov recovers well from his shoulder surgery, he even hold Tanja with the right arm during a death spiral, or lifted her up. Loved also Carolina Kostner's second performance to "Broken Strings" (despite a fall, but this does not matter at all). And Stéphane's programs. The second one to "Try" seemed much faster live than in the videos. He has so incredible movements and poses … but this is not news . You almost forget to breath while he performs, he's so intense. And he is much loved by the audience (no news neither). And he successfully did a beautiful quad after the Finale !!! All the skaters deserve to be mentioned. But I am not good in doing this, just thanks to all of them. So I stop now, I'm not good in describing, others hopefully will do better. Great we got many videos already, and with the show being broadcasted in Swiss TV SRF-2 1st of March (and repetition planned March 2nd and April 6th - as is written in the booklet), everybody can see with their own eyes. Oh, and reut: about the report on 'Tele-Zuri': To the question if Stéphane talked Portuguese with the invited stars (Nelli Furtado and Marc Sway) he just answered: "Yes" . Besides he tells that he met them before and that the bond with the artists of the show is strong. Sarah Meier quits, but he still enjoys to do shows in Japan, South Korea, China, Russia, Italy and also in Switzerland and he hopes it will never end.

Thank you for your impressions, jomeku! As for being reasonable, well, we all understand the urge to not being reasonable when it's something related to the opportunity to see Stephane's skating. About the hard choice of where to look first and about missing some details (well, every detail) when Stephane is skating, I totally agree and understand. I recall how at AOI 2013 there was a snow falling on the stage. During the media rehearsal we saw this part rehearsed (without anyone on the stage or on the ice, just the snow) and then I saw two shows and didn't notice any snow, that was strange. I even thought maybe they decided not to do it in the end. And only during the third show I noticed that the snow was falling on Leona during "Run", but really who looks there where Stephane was on the ice. There are already some videos of Tessa/Scott and Daisuke, I can give you the links, or you can just search in Youtube. They are exceptional, I really hope Stephane will invite them to the next year's "Ice Legends". And WOW about Stephane's quad! LOL about the "Patin Libre", now I understand what those weird photos were about: media.tilllate.com/eventpictures/2015/02/05/150205_artonice/00000000/muriel-66.jpegmedia.tilllate.com/eventpictures/2015/02/05/150205_artonice/00000000/muriel-39.jpegAnd I'm looking forward to see your videos. Each video and each angle add something new to my impressions about the news programs.
