I regret that Tomas have ruined the program. Was insulting to look at it. But after all it is sports, such can occur to everyone. Nerves do not maintain, and all is impossible. I hope that Tomas at following competitions will be quiet. Good luck to it! I love Tomas!!!

Tomas - I hoped for you so much you would made the podium again. It shouldn't be... But the next competition will come and at Worlds you will achieve all difficulties . - Good luck!

Yeah, I guess theat paragraph posted above by ninadel is the most important. They also say that during the practice it seemed alright but few hours later when he came the coaches started to be worried because he looked to concentrated and without the sparkle in his eyes. He just thinks too much when the mistake is made and doesn't manage to do the next jump. That the practice always is ok, he has the jumps and even doesn't neeed to warm up much to do triple lutz or salchow. They do believe in LA, and that atleast he will not bear the pressure of the European champion and maybe the expectings will be a bit smaller. For myself I too hope he realized that getting help is not a weakness and that he can make it!

> "Like it wasn't the real me" This one translated, the quoted is quite similar. While Hartwall Arena was roaring ybout the performances of his rivals, Tomas Verner stood in the hallaway and treid to hide the deep disappointment. The ksater who is known as a "comedian" wasn't a good actor this time. Are you nervous? Is that why you have no medal here? I have always been nervous. But I haven't been messing up that much. But you started well. Only since that single axel something has broken down. And I don't know why. I was going to the axel and told myself: calmly do it, then the step sequence, breath out, look at judges, do another 4 jumps, take medal and go home. And you see ..it didn't work. It was a mess at once. Why? Was the problem in the head? Probably yes. I managed to do th warm up, that was fine. I wasn't afraid. But in the competition it just wasn't like me. And I still can be glad they gave me those points for steps because I did them very differently than I wanted. Yesterday in the SP it was me, yes. I guess I should have skated the free on the same day. I don't know why they spread the competition into two days (bitter smirk) After the SP noone would have thought ou ill leave without a medal. How do you take it? Badly. What should I say? After silver and gold 6th place is a disappointment. I'm not going to cry now, I'll leave it to dressing room. And the future? Seems like you have problems with skating in the last warm up group? And I have been there for how many times! I fought for gold for the 3rd time, so I should have already been able to do that! What did Huth say to you when you were leaving the ice? I guess he most preferably he'd want to throw the skate guards at me and leave, but he is not like that, he didn't despise me. But he didn't say much. He said it was clear that I tried to do something till the end but it wasn't "it" today. Despite the reult you are going to Worlds in LA for a medal. There's probably nothing else you could want, right? Right, I don¨t have a medal from worlds and I want it. And when I didn't get one here I have to take it somewhere else. How will you get rid of the disappointment? I don't know yet. Here I have time till Monday. I thought I would be in mood to celebrate, but I am not. And on Monday at home I am going to dentist, another unpleasant duty. So now there're not many nice things waiting for me.

Well, let's hope good luck for Tomas! I think he was just stressed and thought there were too many expectations for him... But true fans will be there for him even though he wouldn't win!

he is sad, so sad... But it's not really a surprise after his performance :S Why should anyone think getting help is a weekness? Maybe those who don't like him, but they do not matter Cheer up, Tomas, I think we all hate to go to dentist You'll make better at rhe LA Worlds

But he didn't say much. He said it was clear that I tried to do something till the end but it wasn't "it" today. It's hard to tell if Tomas is joking or not about the skate guards. I think it might be harder for Tomas to seek help also because he is pretty much a celebrity now, at least in the Czech Republic and figure skating world, so anything he does even in his personal life will be criticised by the public. And also like we were talking about awhile ago ( see here), there is probably a different cultural mentality towards psychology in certain countries. But I think sports psychology is very different than general psychology... from what I've heard sports psychology is about learning to focus and train the brain to have more reliable control over the body, which is probably exactly what he needs. Another thing to consider is that Tomas is not just skating for himself, but for his entire coaching staff and the Czech skating federation. It would be horrible if Michel Brezina didn't get to go to the Olympics because Tomas made mistakes at 2009 Worlds, so its best to take care of these inconsistencies asap, even if he personally doesn't like the idea of getting a psychologist. It is an enormous amount of pressure but that's reality.

I feel so badly for Tomas. There's so much pressure on a skater since they only have one chance to make the podium; it's not like swimming or skiing where the athletes can medal several times in one competition. Having a mental coach is a good thing for many skaters and it might work out well for Tomas too. Tomas, don't give up

Well I think that, after the dentist, the psychologist should be a piece of cake!!!! Mamy says that, at least in Italy, people think psychologist=psychiatrist, so they answer: "Why? I'm not crazy!". Moreover it seems very hard to consider the mind factor so important to find a coach for it. Anyway, today no Ladies on Eurosport, so I had to watch it on Italian TV (blah!), and I could swear I saw Tommy waving a Czech flag with Dee: tell me it was not an allucination!!! If it wasn't, I can say he looked in a much better mood!!!!

Daphne, did I already tell you that I envy you a lot (lucky girl!!!!) ? ;D ;D ;D BTW just today I said my parents that a very good cure for Tomas would have been staying for a while with his fans (hugging him and feeding him with chocolate cream , but I think that waving a flag is good as well )!!!! Anyway: Cameramen really DO love you, don't they?
