Oh what a pity that you didn't know where to sign. If I had an idea about your problem I would have run to your seat with the backside of the banner . Anyway - don't worry. Even if you not will be in Vancouver, I'm quite sure it is not too late to make a virtual signature on the banner. Swissmiss is explaining the proceder in her blog. The link to her blog you will find here: absoluteskating.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Stphane&action=display&thread=3882&page=4# - reply 50. So hurry up to sent swissmiss your message for the backside of the banner . BTW: - Going thru all the banners hanging in Tallin for Stéphane I found out, that I forgot to take a pic of this one I have brought with me - and it looks like nobody else did either. As this banner is not hanging the first time at a competition this year, it's not such a problem for swissmiss regarding the scrapbook. At least I hope so. Just in case someone took in the venue of Tallin a pic of this banner here hanging nearby swissmiss banner too, then please send the link to your pic to swissmiss or post it here, so swissmiss has the "collection" of Stéphane banners in Tallin completed.

Hi everyone, I received only 2 "virtual signatures" by the January 31st deadline, so I'm going to extend it until after the Olympics. That will give everyone a chance to write a "congratulations" message to Stéphane. I don't have a new deadline yet - stay tuned. I've found someone to take the banner to the Olympics - myself! ;D I wasn't going to go, but then I got some offers I couldn't refuse. Thanks to everyone who helped out with the banner at Euros and took pictures. It's on its way "home" now. I'm not going to have time to change it to a "William Tell" banner, though. I'm still working on the Olympic medals - I'll post them when I get them done. sm

The banner arrived home on Saturday. A few leaves fell off - better in my house than Stéphane's - but there's not much I have to fix. I'm making another signature panel for the Olympics. There is still some room on the current panel, but I expect it will fill up very quickly, especially when I bring it to the House of Switzerland. I've extended the deadline for virtual signatures to February 28th, to give everyone enough time to write their "congratulations on the Olympic gold medal" messages. I don't plan to send it to Art On Ice this year, but I would like to send it to Worlds if Stéphane decides to go. I've made the Olympic medals - all 5 of them. Pictures are on my blog: swissmissvids.spaces.live.com/default.aspx6 more days! ;D sm

I don't plan to send it to Art On Ice this year, but I would like to send it to Worlds if Stéphane decides to go. No banner at AoI? I think that would be a little pity as there will be quite a number of us AS members going to Art on Ice, not to mention the many many Swiss people who might be willing to leave a congrats message for Stéphane after Olympics. Kat, please don't get me wrong. Since it is your banner, it's of course your decision where to take or send it, and noone elses. However I see that most likey there will be no more space on the Otoño Porteño Banner after Olys and the time to make a new banner runs rather short. I just have to add that I really love the medals, especially the Heart-Medal - although I of course hope you won't need it. Didn't know that they award a medal for 4th place.

People, I know that it sounds stupid but I don't get which medal is gold - the one to the right of the silver or the one to the left? they both look like bronze to me

i'd say the one on the right is the bronze. cause the one on the left glitters more so i'm guessing that's the gold. hopefully we'll see the golden one next to the Olympic flag by the end of the next week

Yes, the gold one is on the left. The difference is obvious in person, but doesn't show up as well in photos. The gold and silver medals are very shiny lamé fabric, while the bronze and pewter medals are darker shades of gold and silver satin fabric. The edging and ribbon on the bronze medals are the same color gold that is used on the gold medals. In Stéphane's "Dralion" scrapbook, I described the 2007 world bronze medal as a "darker color of gold". About pewter medals, Ryan Bradley is an expert on them now - he is now a 2-time US pewter medalist. USFSA competition podiums (podia? ) have four steps. The medalists (top 4) from each Regionals go on to Sectionals, and the medalists from each Sectionals go on to Nationals. Usually, the medalists from Nationals are named as the Olympic and World team members and alternates. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Figure_Skating_ChampionshipsI decided earlier today that I will be changing the banner to "William Tell" after all. Quite a few leaves fell off the “Otoño Porteño” silhouette, and it will be a lot easier and faster to remove it totally and start over rather than to repair the existing design. I'm in a big time crunch, so I'm not sure I'll be able to post any pics before I head to Vancouver. I'm off to the fabric store to find some sheer green/gray/whatever-color-that-is material. sm
