I found this one and it reminded me of the last one I posted.. I like how they go together.
People are always blaming their circunstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, they make them. George Bernard Shaw
I've always enjoyed this quote:
The world was created round so that we would never be able to see too far down the road. Isaak Dineson

The quote from "Little prince" that I really like. "Tu es responsable de ce que tu as apprivoisé"/ "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed."Antoine de Saint-Exupery And I recalled Saint-Exupery because someone sent me today an interesting fragment which is called "The prayer" written also by Saint-Exupery. It was in Russian, but I found translation. As this is rather long, I'll just give a link: "...help us to see that the current hour is the most important to recognize"divanova08.blogspot.com/2008/12/prayer-by-ade-saint-exupry.html

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us...

You're welcome, Nadin.. one of my favorites. Reut--that is a good one.. "be responsible for what you've tamed" Here are a few more I like: If you do what you've always done, you'll be who you've always been. And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.Abraham Lincoln Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind. Dr. Seuss Be the change you wish to see in the world. Gandhi

There's an anecdote involving Abraham Lincoln which I quite like. I first came across it in a book on characterology and knowlodge of human nature by Josef Rattner. Rattner believes that eventually a man's face will be marked by his soul and that the life we have lived will leave marks on our faces. He goes on saying that if we feel sorry for ourselves, eventually this will show on our faces and we will look sad. So apparently Abraham Lincoln did not want to hire a certain employee in the 19th century because he didn't like his face. Lincoln's advisors pointed out that it wasn't right to judge a person by their face, after all the poor man couldn't do anything about his face. Lincoln disagreed and said: "Every man over forty is responsible for his face." Meaning that up until then they had enough time to let their attitude and frame of mind stamp the traits of their face!

Lots of thanks for all the pearls you brought here, dear friends! These days I'm in love with this phrase: New opinions are always suspected, and usually opposed, without any other reason but because they are not already common.

I like that. It reminds me of Thomas Edison: I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.

Your time is limited. So don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your inner voice. Follow your heart. Always.

One day you might see yourself walking alone on a new path. No one seems in sight. No one seems to have walked it earlier. Don't give up midway. Go on. Reach your dreams. The reason why you do not see anyone is because, the world is following you... I've never heard that quote before... Just wrote it down before I forgot it. I really like it!!! Thx for sharing

"True, we love life, not because we are used to living, but because we are used to loving. There is always some madness in love, but there is also always some reason in madness."

I don't know who said this but I like it!
It is better to stay silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
